It is 2010, and I think that makes it time for a long awaited livejournal update from the (self proclaimed) king of livejournal. Kurt Loder always called Michael Jackson just self-proclaimed king of pop, and Michael Jackson freaking died this past year. I bet Loder feels like such an asshole. I'm sure he does. I finished the busiest few months of my life a few weeks ago. Working full time and taking 15 credit hours is a great thing to do if you really feel like punishing yourself for having too much fun at a previous point of your life. I was victorious, worked on a lot of good projects, did well on finals, stayed productive at work and didn't even have to start using crystal meth. I've been rewarding myself by sleeping until 11am and then sitting around watching episodes of The Office. After my programming class did so many reports on it and my good friend Chris Fafalios told me it was as good as the hype let on (yes, I'd never seen a full episode of the show, I know it's been hugely popular with a lot of great people since 2005). It is completely awesome. The writing and characters are incredible. One of the funniest moments I've seen so far is when Michael photoshops himself into his girlfriend's family picture (covering up the ex husband). I also love Rashida Jones, but would still pick Pam over Karen since she loves a good prank. I also watched the movie "500 Days of Summer", which some friends had recommended. I won't say I totally hated it, I like Zooey Deschanel..but maybe it's time to admit that the main appeal of her hotness is what she has to offer dudes who don't want to admit Katy Perry is super hot since her music lame. It's way more respectable to be into Zooey and I bet that's the main thing Ben Gibbard digs. I did enjoy the montage set to Hall and Oates "you make my dreams" because that song is awesome and could/should be in basically every movie. My favorite part of the song is when he says "well, listen to this" all cocky and then NOTHING COOL HAPPENS. It's just a simple bridge. Call me old-fashioned, but when you arrogantly demand the listener pay attention to what's about to happen in a song, you should have some crazy fucking shit go down, be it a wicked guitar solo or drum fill. I'm not complaining about the end result of "well, listen to this" being so underwhelming, I just think it's funny. All in all, "500 days.." would have been decent if you replaced the main character with Bradley Cooper, Ed Healms, Zach Galifianakis and Mike Tyson's tiger.
Christmas was great this year. I gave some of the best gag gifts in my gift giving. New Years? Pretty low key, but played plenty of wii with friends and hung out in a blizzard. Started the first day of 2010 off right by visiting the Anthony Sowell house after breakfast. Yep, the serial killer house in east Cleveland. Everyone says they are going to make changes and really take the new year by storm, but how can you do that without driving by a semi-famous serial killer's house to start the year off? It's the only way I know how.
