As a senior at Pratt Institute, in Brooklyn, N.Y. studying industrial and transportation design, Zach Cranfield prefers to take the road less traveled as he embraces life and societal trends. His futuristic concept also comprehends his philosophy about life - it is to be enjoyed for its beauty and simplicity.
Zach grew up in Fair Haven, a small town in central New York. As Zach chose classes in fine arts and illustration during his high school years, he knew early on he wanted to pursue a career in art and design - but he didn't know how to go about it. So he took some time off and began the process of investigating schools that offered industrial design.
Having found a path and a purpose, some of Zach's accomplishments include assisting one of his stepbrothers - a New York television production designer - in the development of design concepts for a talk show set. Zach, along with another colleague, developed packaging and drawing concepts for a proposal that was presented to Boeing and NASA.
Zach's vision for his concept offers consumers ultra-luxury - so much so that they don't need to concern themselves with the duties of driving. His vehicle is computer-driven, allowing passengers time for other essentials. Travelers are enveloped in a plush, evocative cabin that can be used for entertaining, business meetings or just unwinding from life's hectic pace. Zach's design solution for 2030 welcomes leisure and luxury as his vehicle provides an oasis of refreshment and refinement.
In his spare time, Zach enjoys snowboarding and traveling. Zach is a vegan by choice and has been for approximately nine years. "After investigating the production of our food supply and checking into the meat and dairy industry, I decided to take the leap," says Zach. "I like to take a different approach. At one point, my folks were into organic farming and gardening, and I'm certain of its influence in my life."
