Ginger Beer is actually nothing like normal beer, its merely a slightly spicy and very sweet soft drink that tastes of ginger. I think that the etymology has something to do with alcohol forming before the process of making it is complete, or something. It's an acquired taste though.

I remember, about 12 or so years ago, Mountain Dew was marketed over here, but as a fun drinks for kids. Presumably because kids hopped up on caffeine is a hoot. I drank it from the can and thought that it was very sweet, but when I deposited it into a glass I was really put off. You don't seem to get it here anymore. Much like Tab Clear. Although I have no idea whether you get that anywhere these days. But that was exciting, the taste of Coke but the same colour as water! Great. Unless, again, you were drinking it from the can. Kind of the opposite problem from Mountain Dew then.

I've staved myself away from beans for the past few days because I'm not sure that my digestive track could take it but, to be honest, I'm really looking forward to a proper dinner tonight, so I might go crazy and have half a can o' Heinze.
