Franz Ferdinand and Juard

Hello my duckies,
oh ye who have not been found worthy to bask in the collective glory that is Franz Ferdinand
let me regal you my children of the splendor that was yesterday when I your humble friend was blessed by a divine band of bards.

You see my friends yesterday I went to see them play live in St. Louis it was a hard task getting here frought with many changes in plans, dealing with bus systems and shifting plans that could not bear shifting but lo and behold I made it truely!

I have much work to do today work of loan applications, pay checks, and all sorts of drudgery but after my divine experience friday it is of no matter.

For you see I in fealty did take with me to the loop an offering of Four Bottles of Irn Bru a cola as beloved to the Scottish as anything else that the fair country has to offer, I had a sacrifice to offer up on the altar that is music.

Going early to the loop (for my Scottish friends a semi-artsy place of St. Louis)I enjoyed the splendors of music shops, antique galleries, bubble tea, and talking with the randoms that dot the street. My friend Matt (Akira) and Iarrived many hours early and so made ourselves useful and did exploring.
When finally we happened into the bookstore my eyes made their way to three very familiar looking chaps, I could not place them for sure but I did in some vague way know they were the band I sought to see,

Not many noticed them which was akward and they were book browsing, I did not wish to disturb them nor did I know for a fact that they were in indeed the members of Franz Ferdinand. I waited not making eye contact and browsing books as I had indeed gone there to do for I have this strange addiction to reading but no matter one talked eventually and it was of course a Glaswegian accent, I went up the gentlemen (Nick) and asked him if he would like an Irn Bru?

I unholstered one of the bottles from my bag and gave it forth,
they were not only nice but seemed really grateful, I was thanked profusly and asked where I got it,
I talked a bit to Nick, Bob, Paul, and Alex and they were all very kind. Nick was a bit shy but might not have felt like chatting much he did say thank you though, I spoke with Bob and Nick about Stirling and how I had first heard their music in the corridors there, we spoke of Scotland and Glasgow for a while,
Alex spoke to Matt and asked him of places to hang out afterwards. It was nice as I'm usually too shy to approach people I don't know and I did apologize for interrupting them and offered to leave if they liked to which they said Rubbish..
Really nice chaps, I told Nick that I had heard good things about their new CD and songs and we talked a bit about that, I had my cd in the bag with me which he offered to sign, as did the others, I was told to find Alex at a music shop.

I went to the little music shop int he loop and outside a fellow was playing guitar he wasn't all that good but a lot of people were around him, mainly catholic school girls, Alex stood and watched him for a while probably deciding he wasn't that great went inside to shop around. It was funny that the girls paid so much heed to this random playing the guitar when next to them and in the store stood one of the greatest singers to come out of Europe.. I found it amusing beyond all belief..

I watched Alex Guitar shopping, apparently Bob had bought something there earlier,
it was sureal in that they were so kind and chatty and also knew my name....

Onto the gig!
They had two bands before them
one was an Ozzie band named Cat Copy who were pretty good, their lyrics needed some work but it was good warm up music and I enjoyed their second song immensly..

The second band was rubbish Pretty makes girl something or something along those lines, they're from Seattle I believe the band itself was good but the lead singer was the most wretched and shrill shrew to ever hold a microphone. Imagine if you will Chalk scrapping on a blackboard, a cat being drowned, and fran drescher singing in an amplified whine, now imagine if you can my friends that all these would be audio nectar in comparison to the screeching of this harpy!!!!!
I was in pain, they played many songs including some of their new ones which I hated....

And then Came Franz!
To say they're good live is an understatement, in fact its a crime,
I've liked their CD, I liked them more when I met them and talked to them and they were nice chaps, but they really are amazing live. The segways between their songs are well done, the instruments blow you away and you feel it to your very core, my ears still pound and my bones still shake.

They took the stage at quarter past nine and were done about quarter to 11, they were really good showman interacting with the stage, involving the audience teasing us by leaving without playing michael then coming back to play it and another song. They played all the songs from their First album and at least five from the upcoming one which I will buy without question it sounds great has a bit of a sinister edge to it which I like.

Alex played to the audience and seemed to involve the other members as well, Paul played guitar at one point and was great, all of them seemed to be enjoying themselves and did take pleasure in the audience's enjoyment.
I have not the words to describe how good they are live but I can see why they sell out tina park and all their gigs in Europe so easily.. If only they were more popular here, give it time......

Nice chaps,
afterwards I was invited for a drink with some of the ozzies at the concert but declined I had been dancing for nearly two hours straight and going all out, danced with a girl or two even was asked by one who was very pretty (imagine my surprise to that) though likely a bit young for me, but I had a grand time at the concert, I went all out and danced like there was no tomorrow I'm suprised i didnt tear another ligament, this morning Im stiff in places I didn't know I had, and hoarse from singing along.
If they're ever here again I'll make to go.

To all of you I'd recommend seeing them live there is no comparing!

Anyway that was my brush with musical gods, and made the stress of the last two weeks and all things I had to do disappear...

so to Bob, Nick, Paul and Alex I say thank you, thanks for the chat, and for a great show *Salute*

Sincerely
Juard Van Dijkhorst
