Well children,
let me retell you the day I had yesterday,
had to say goodbye to Leah, Fernando, and Eve which was HARD as hell, Nando and Leah have been amazing
The train to Berwick to Edinburgh was packed and didn't have a chance to say a proper goodbye to everyone,
the train I was on continued straight onto Glasgow Central, so I didn't get off the train,
which of course meant I got fined for not getting off at Edinburgh :-( oh well didn't have time and I was stupid enough to listen to him ask him about buying a ticket from Edinburgh to Glasgow showed him the berwick to edinburgh ticket, I shouldn't of asked and he wouldn't of noticed... Oh well honesty is its own reward ?
Arrived in Glasgow Prestwick, forgot how far off that airport is,
firstly,
A, No internet access in that airport, no BT broadband or private paybooths, no net cafes nada, nie, nichts, etc.... an airport without internet access What the f00k?
B. Call boxes with displayed numbers and no ability to take return calls, thanks, why bother giving me the number?
C. Call boxes NW I believe that after a few calls starts thanking you using a prerecorded voice, but it costs you money
D. Ryan air cannot cross check your schedule with other airlines, as they only operate out of prestwick
Anyway they wouldn't let me board the flight because I didn't have an italian visa,
look I'm there for less than five days (three now because of the problems yesterday)
the airport attendent there didn't know the if you're there for less than a few days you can go as long as you have proof you're leaving,
of course I had proof I was leaving problem being it was from the netherlands, and another airline at that,
so after two hours of calling the embassy in italy, the US, and the UK (to see if I was allowed in Scotland in the first place), and all sorts of confused supervisors, they told me I couldnt go,
so I rushed to said callbox to get my mum to cancel the reservations at the faultytowers hostel in Rome,
but then ran back and asked them if I could book a ticket from their airline from Rome to Amsterdam?
No...
anywhere else in Holland? ... yeah ....
could I book that ... yeah
I love the lack of logic jumps there that would have enabled them to figure that out in the first place,
problem is that they fly only once a week there, which means I only have three days in Rome...
So much for N. Italy or Working my way to Switzerland, Germany and into Holland,
luckily I have my tickets booked to and from holland so I shouldn't get trouble there, and on the way back I'll be using a real airline....
I can only say one thing about Ryan Air without wanting to restort to a game of knee cricket with their ceo, the supervisor at the Airport was helpful, not very informed or well trained but she worked hard and went to more effort then she had to so I thanked her for that,
frankly if I had gotten an arse for a manager there I might have spent the next couple days here and then gone home to the states early,
so onto Rome this afternoon.... I hope
URK
URK URK!
looks like Im going to miss out on switzerland for sure, and probably Germany, been to belgium before no need to go there again liked it but might as well spend time in the Netherlands or nearby
also hindsight
wish I had bought my Euros after the french no vote, then again the dutch are voting no tomorrow so I predict I nice litle drop in the Euro to the pound,
Anyways Nadine is in the hospital again, the day I go to Lindisfarne,
tourist trap but still genuinely moving and holy in a arm hair raises and you can't help but feel a surge of faith. (left a prayer there for her and a donation) I think if anyplace has 750 years of worship there in one faith there is something to be said about God being in that place
of course I got back after that experience and found out she had rushed into Barnes Children again....
URK URK URK
Spent the Night at John's luckily he was willing to put me up for the night,
cheers for that
And love to all in Geddes Court
