Good morning! (marathon, mantis & Massachusetts)

I've decided to become much better at keeping up my on-line communications. I know we all have busy lives, so much so that it becomes difficult to catch up in person. I also finally figured out how to make mobile posts.

I had a lovely weekend. A long-time family friend, Garth, came into town this weekend and a good time and good food was had by all. I got to learn a bit more about my parents and early, early business computer programs, as well as a bit more about Garth (I had no clue he had been in the Marines), and what I was like when I was little. It would seem that I was in my own headspace most of the time and not all that aware of my surroundings but able to put complex things together just from studying a picture of how it was supposed to look.

I also got a good view of the Marine Corp Marathon on the way in to DC. They had gorgeous weather for it, and I got to see a rainbow of t-rts streaming down the overflow lanes across the 14th St. Bridge. I wish I had a camera (and had not been driving at the time) to get a shot of it.

With another bit of randomness, I believe the praying mantis that resided in the bush by the picnic table at work has completed its life cycle- there's a slightly mis-shapen but still very reognizable mantis egg sac attached to one of the branches now. The adult female was an absolutely gorgeous specimen of the species and I looked forward to seeing it during lunch. I guess I'm still a tomboy at heart. I want to find interesting bugs and frogs and lizards and climb trees.and be outside whenever possible.

This should be a good day. If nothing else, I get to pick up the 6 researh posters for the research convention in Boston next weekend. Any other suggestions of what to do in Boston over Halloween? I feel like I should celebrate the holiday somehow...
