You just can't make this stuff up.

Though y'all might like this story my dad told me about one of his patients.

A Mexican girl needs a bonemarrow transplant and her brother is a perfect match. So he agrees to donate some bonemarrow in hopes of saving his sister. He goes through all the usual screenings for diseases and such, and then has a phycological evaluation to determine how he'll deal with the transplant and to ensure that he actually consents. However during the entire interview he only asks questions about his sister and if and how much this transplant will help her. Touched, the social worker finally asks if he has any questions about what will happen to him. He only had one. He asked if he could help plan his funeral arrangments.

Apparently in his inability to understand English he came to the conclusion that the transpant would kill him while saving his sister, and was more than willing to do it anyway. Of course it won't kill him, but the latest blood tests, in some sort of tragic irony, have him testing positive for maternal HIV. They are restesting to make sure of the results so he may yet be alright, but I just thought that this story deserved some telling.
