Why Did It Have To Be You
Chapter 18: Just Trust Me.. This Once [Part 1]
“Are you asking me out?” Dong Hae joked.
Yoona smiled and playfully punched him in reply.
“Ya, Lee Dong Hae.. Has anyone ever told you that your head is getting bigger and bigger by the minute?” Yoona teased.
“Oh, really? Is it?” Dong Hae teased back as he touched his forehead.
“Yeah, it is.” Yoona replied, causing a little laughing moment between her and Dong Hae.
As soon as their adorable laughs died down, Hae gestured Yoona to get inside the dorm.
I mean, he couldn’t just let her stand there, right?
“Yoona!” The SJ Boys said, simultaneously.
Yesung ran to Yoona and hugged her like a little boy seeing his mother after dismissal time.
Eun Hyuk followed, then Shindong, then eventually, the rest of the SuJu boys.
Super Yoong, indeed.
Yoona smiled as she tried hugging all of her oppas.
There were 9 of them hugging her tightly, what would you expect?
“You guys might want to loosen your grip on her.” Dong Hae said as he approached the bunch and started “loosening” their grip on Yoona.
By “loosening”, Dong Hae meant getting their hands off her.
As Lee Teuk realized what his dongsaeng was doing, Teukie hid his mischievous smile.
“Finally.” He thought.
As the SJ boys started breaking off their huge hug to Yoona, they stared at Dong Hae and flashed him a subtle smile before they went back to their “individual activities”.
Did they know something fishy was going on too?
Oh, well.. They are brothers, anyway.
“Uh, Yoona.. Is it okay if I leave you here for a while? I mean, I’ve got to go change.” Dong Hae said.
He was in his sweats right now.
Obviously, he wasn’t expecting a coffee date.
“Sure.. I’ll be right here.” Yoona said.
As soon as Dong Hae was in his room, he felt a sudden rush of extreme happiness flow right through him.
After days of pure misery, finally.. He going to be able to smile again.
Dressed in his favorite red and black plaid shirt, the black, knee-ripped pants he and Eun Hyuk shared and really awesome black Converse sneakers, he was good to go.
The over-sized black glasses he wore on Hee Chul’s Young Street Radio, served as his little add on.
Looking at his reflection on the mirror, the last thing Dong Hae had to do was fix his man bangs.
Gosh.. Everyone just started crushing on him because of that.
“Okay, Dong Hae. You’re all good.” Dong Hae said to himself as he stretched a little bit before heading out.
After having a little chat with Lee Teuk, Yoona spotted Dong Hae and was completely in awe.
He was drop dead handsome right now.
Seeing Yoona’s expression, her eyes all sparkly and her mouth semi opened, Lee Teuk looked at the direction her eyes were on and saw what she was looking at.
Nudging her back to reality, all Lee Teuk could do was smile.
He decided not to comment or anything.
“Let’s go?” Dong Hae told Yoona as he stood by the kitchen door.
“Uh, yeah.. Let’s.” Yoona said, shaking her head.
She bid goodbye to Lee Teuk and her other SJ oppas before she left their dorm.
As soon as Dong Hae and Yoona closed the door, Lee Teuk mouthed a “yes” before going back to the kitchen.
Finally, Finally, Finally..
“We are at the Basement.” The elevator’s built in operator said as it opened.
A car bleeped as soon as Hae pressed the keys he had in his hands.
Stopping front of a brand-new, silver, Lexus, Yoona’s jaw dropped.
“Oppa, you’re driving a Lexus?” She asked, with a certain tone in her voice.
“What happened to your other car?” Yoona added.
“I sold it. I figured that I needed a new car, so I searched the internet and saw this.” Dong Hae explained.
“Oppa, isn’t this car.. too fast for you?” Yoona asked.
Based on Lee Teuk and Eun Hyuk’s comments about Dong Hae’s reckless driving, she was worried about his choice of car.
She believed that it wasn’t right for him to be driving a Lexus at this time.
“Don’t worry, Yoona. I passed all my driving tests with flying colors.” Dong Hae said, as he put his hand into his pocket.
“Proof.” He stated, showing a piece of paper that had his score on it.
“Oppa, this is unbelievable.” Yoona said, referring to Dong Hae’s high score.
“Wanna see some more proof? Hop in.” Dong Hae said, opening Yoona’s door side.
Hopping in, all Yoona could do was smile.
Smile. Just smile.
As soon as he was in the car, Dong Hae was gentleman enough to put Yoona’s seatbelt on.
Again, as he did this, their hearts were beating like crazy.
“Uh, oppa? I know that I invited you for coffee, but, I really don’t know which café in Seoul is less populated.” Yoona said, trying to kill the silence.
“Oh.. I know a place. There’s this Starbucks branch near the Music Core studio and not a lot of people go there. I don’t know if it’s still open, though. I mean, it’s already 11:30.” Dong Hae said, looking at his Lexus’ car watch.
“Well, let’s just give it a try.” Yoona replied.
Dong Hae nodded, started the car and drove off.
Yoona was way impressed with Dong Hae’s driving.
He wasn’t reckless at all.
He was driving at an average speed and drove on one lane (lol).
Yoona felt relaxed as she just leaned back the Lexus’ comfy seat.
Looking at Yoona’s satisfied smile, all Dong Hae could do was smile too as he took turns looking at the road and her.
Turning on the radio, 2AM’s I Did Wrong played.
Apparently, Yoona loved this song and started moving her head gently to the melody.
Dong Hae found her so cute as she did this.
Though 2AM’s song was meant to be for those who just got their heart broken, Dong Hae didn’t mind the lyrics and just enjoyed the song as he drove.
11:55 PM.
“It’s closed.” Dong Hae said as soon as he saw the closed sign hanging on the glass door of Starbucks.
Yoona pouted and breathed heavily.
“So, what’re we going to do now?” She asked.
Suddenly, Dong Hae had an idea.
“Let’s take a walk at the park.” He suggested.
“At the park? Oppa, are you crazy? What if someone sees us?” Yoona said.
“Yoona, it’s about to be midnight. I’m sure that, at this time, no one’s in the mood to take a walk. Besides, it’s cold and everything.” Dong Hae replied.
Still not liking the idea, Yoona frowned.
Opening the glove compartment, Dong Hae had 2 over-sized beanies in his hands and another pair of over-sized glasses.
“Here.. Take this.” Dong Hae said, giving a beanie and the pair of glasses to Yoona.
Though she was hesitant at first, Yoona took it.
After she wore both, she looked at Dong Hae.
“Oppa, I swear.. If someone notices us, I’m really going to kill you.” Yoona taunted.
All Dong Hae did was laugh in reply as he wore the other beanie he had.
As the both of them got out of the car, Yoona’s heart started beating out of nervousness.
What if their disguises weren't enough? What if someone saw them? What if..
Then she felt his soft, warm fingers meet hers.
“Yoona, I know what I’m doing. Just trust me this once.”
