Listen To The Thunder
Lee Donghae x Im Yoona
Yoona tried closing her eyes as she listened to the heavy downpour of rain hitting the rooftop of the traditional Korean house she, and the rest of the FO2 cast were staying in. It was sleeping time for all of them, yet here she was, suffering what seemed to be insomnia.
She didn’t know if it was because she wasn’t that tired yet or because she had to much coffee with her Shin Bongsun unnie, but all she was sure of was that.. she really couldn’t sleep.
As she opened her eyes, she rose up gently from her sleeping bag and tip-toed across the room with hopeful efforts of not waking her fellow female cast mates.
When she felt her Kim Wonhee unnie move a little bit, she froze. “Please.. Don’t wake up.” Yoona mumbled. Seeing her unnie go back to her original sleeping position, Yoona carefully opened the sliding door leading to the living room. She just had to go out before one of her unnies would catch her.
Right after successfully closing the sliding door, she saw a silhouette of a guy doing the same thing at the other end of the corridor. Noticing who owned the silhouette despite the gloominess of the house, Yoona called out to the guy softly. “Donghae oppa?” She surmised. The guy then responded with a few footsteps. “Neh.” He confirmed as a ray of light, coming from the lamps outside, hit his face.
“I knew it. The man bangs were just so telling.” Yoona joked, to which Donghae smiled. “Let me guess.. You can’t sleep too?” Donghae surmised. Nodding in reply, Yoona said. “Yeah.. I came out here to look for something that can get me into sleepy mode.”
“Well, looking at the moon never fails to get me into sleepy mode.” Donghae said. “But it’s raining right now, so I’m pretty sure that the moon’s hiding.” He added. “Hmmm.. It wouldn’t hurt if we wait for it to show itself, right?” Yoona asked. Maybe, after tonight, the moon could be her personal sleeping pill too.
With smiles on their faces, they both walked to the window and sat on the floor. They had a pretty good view of the hiding moon tonight.
“Rain, rain.. Don’t go away. Come again another day.” Yoona sang. “Do you really like the rain that much?” Donghae asked, smiling. Yoona nodded in reply. “I just can’t seem to put into words what I feel whenever it rains.” She said, looking up at the grey skies.
Though she was just sitting there, Yoona looked like a goddess. The simplicity of her beauty never failed to captivate the eyes of many, one of which is Super Junior’s Lee Donghae.
“Wow.. I never really thought we had something in common.” Donghae joked, taking his eyes off Yoona. He didn’t want the subtle to be obvious.
“Ya, oppa. We may be awkward, but we’re not that awkward.” Yoona smiled. “I’m just going to nod and pretend that I actually understood what you had just said.” Donghae joked once more. Yoona responded with a few giggles short after.
For a moment, the living room was filled with the sound of heavy raindrops, falling from the sky. Concentrating on the hiding moon, Yoona didn’t take off her eyes from it. Only the man beside her did, whenever he stole glances at the pretty lady beside him.
Upon seeing a ray of lightning, Donghae warned Yoona. “Thunder coming..” He said. Yoona let out a shriek and held unto Donghae’s arm immediately.
Quite surprised by her sudden gesture, Donghae couldn’t help but smile. He had totally forgotten about the roar of thunder that would usually startle him. He really couldn’t believe that she was holding unto him.
Realizing what she had just done, Yoona abruptly let go of Donghae’s arm and avoided his gaze. She felt blood rush up to her cheeks. “S-s-sorry about that.” She stuttered. Something she usually did whenever she was embarrassed. “No need to apologize, Yoong.” Donghae said, acting all cool, though deep inside, he was already jumping for joy.
Whenever you live near the mountains, you’ve got to expect a change in temperature during the evening. It becomes colder and colder as time passes by. With the Family Outing 2 set situated near the mountains of Yeongju, that was most likely to happen.
Yoona felt herself shiver since the pajamas she was wearing wasn’t made of thick fabric. Noticing this, Donghae took off his hoodie and placed it around Yoona’s body. “Oppa, how about you?” She asked, after seeing Donghae left with only a white t-shirt and jammies. “Nah.. It’s okay.” Donghae shrugged. “As long as you’re okay, I’m okay.” He blurted out.
Yoona felt a smile spread across her face. She never really knew how much her Donghae oppa cared for her. All the while, Yoona thought that he was just there.. but, obviously, she was wrong.
“Donghae oppa, I’m really happy that you’re here.” Yoona said. “I’m really happy that Heechul oppa decided to invite you here.” She added. “Huh? Why?” Donghae wondered. “.. I just feel safe whenever you’re around.” Yoona answered. “It’s like.. I’m in the right hands.” She smiled.
Donghae was so overwhelmed with what he had just heard that he run out of words to say. All he could do was smile at her. At this, Yoona felt her heart skip a beat.
Making her lean on his shoulder, Donghae said. “I believe this is the perfect time to doze off.”
