running for VP of diversity...would this get your vote??
I know right now you have to be sick of reading all of us candidates talk about ourselves...I mean, I'm probably somewhere in Hills, it's like my other dorm, reading these and hardly paying attention, then reading them again. So bear with me while I tell you why I should earn your vote. To be Vice President of something like diversity that requires a background of being in a diverse setting. Take my high school for example, it was a melting pot of culture, lifestyles, and attitudes (lol...melting pot, come on, I couldn't think of a better term) I held such prestigious positions such as President of Book Club (I know, book club, but it seriously rocked!) I planned monthly picnics, dinners, and movie nights for discussions. I was also voted Vice President of National Honor Society, probably the most tedious position I held. I revived an organization that had been dormant (like a volcano) for years. Seriously, once it was up and running, it definitely disturbed the peace. I organized a Day of Silence for my school; which took many hours of planning and talking to administrators (so I'm fairly good at doing that now) By now you might be wondering what organization this is...well...it's the Gay-Straight Alliance (vote Kerry) Okay, a short joke interlude...There were three boys in court and the judge asked the first boy to say his name and why he was there. The boy said my name is Johnny and I was throwing peanuts in the elephant exhibit. The judge asked the same question to the second boy. He said I’m Charlie and I was throwing peanuts in the elephant exhibit. The judge asked the third boy. He said.... hi...I’m peanuts... Back to my credentials (almost done, I swear) I was extremely involved with my Class Board (someone had to pick up the slack to ensure a good senior year) My main fundraiser I helped run was the garage sale which took up over 40 hours of my time planning and running (it was during the blackout of 03) I was also RAGE-ing. Rage was a student run, community service group. I organized MORP (backwards prom, ingenious, I know, wasn’t my original idea, it's annual...) Add to all that a few years of Student Council and Looking Glass (literary magazine) I have all the qualities all the other candidates have mentioned, experience, responsibility, reliability, leadership, etc. etc. etc. What else sets me apart from them? I'm me. I do it because I love it. Getting involved makes school that much better, but more than that is having a great group of peers to listen to your concerns and comments and effectively execute necessary means for change. So vote for Taylor Wong because not only do I have a last name that rhymes with funny words like thong, bong and schlong...I makes killer Strawberry Shortcake. But seriously voting anything but WONG is wrong!!
