Thanks to all, plus thoughts on the "Evil Dead" remake trailer

Thanks for the words of support to everyone who chimed in on the last post a month or so ago! I still need to respond to everyone. I still need to do a lot of things, and responding to you all is on the list. For now, I'll just say that they all really meant a lot to me, and hopefully I'll be able to have the guts to finally write out my feelings.

Until then: movies!

Henchgirl already posted her thoughts on the prospect of this Evil Dead remake. Adding to her thoughts: Yeah, all I see is the remake of Texas Chainsaw Massacre in the gore, acting, cinematography, and the sorta-period costumes (as you noted, the men look like they're from the 70's, but the women don't), with a dash of every single goddamn horror film we've seen over the past few years, most notably Saw and the Elm Street remake. This trailer seems to be courting fans of those films, with very little of anything to court the deeply skeptical franchise fans like us.

As far as I'm concerned, all the gore and horror don't count worth shit as Evil Dead unless there's two things: 1.) bits of twisted humor, preferably with a dash of Stooges-like slapstick and maybe a bad pun or two, and 2.) Girl!Ash doing something other than just looking and sounding like every single goddamn Survivor Girl of every single goddamn horror movie ever.

Ash was an uncommonly interesting horror movie hero, and while I don't necessarily want to see Girl!Ash go through the same motions (maybe a couple would be welcome), she's got to bring something to this to set her apart from all of the other Survivor Girls if this remake is to feel anything but an ugly, pointless remake.

In the meantime, can I just mention how I already so fucking DONE with people commenting with "GIVE IT A CHANCE, YOU DON'T KNOW HOW IT'LL BE, HOW DARE YOU POST THOUGHTS ABOUT THINGS YOU STUPID JUDGMENTAL THINKER YOU" on various sites? This movie may end up being good, but until I see it or until trailers start offering more interesting tidbits, I don't think there's anything unfair about judging something as a pointless waste of time and money.

Hey, ranting about movies on my blog is fun! I should do it more often here rather than just at Facebook. Even thought I let my paid account lapse here (MY ICONS! MY HUNDRED-PLUS ICONS, MANY OF WHICH I MADE MYSELF IN MSPAINT SEVERAL YEARS AGO! USELESS!) I should try to chime in for the five or six of you who are still here. :)
