Offered below is a tentative schedule of classes offered at Campbell High. This is a comprehensive list of the available subjects for both students and teachers; and is a useful tool for configuring your character's daily schedule. While all of these are premade courses offered by the moderators, please note that the interpretation of most of these subjects will be left up to those who decide to teach them.


*Financial Literacy requirement must be completed in grades 10, 11, or 12. Classes meeting this financial literacy requirement are Business and Personal Finance, Economics, and Independent Living.

ART COURSES

Art Foundations: 1 semester, 1 credit; open to any student in grades 9-12; prerequisite: none
Art Foundations focuses on the basics of seeing and drawing accurately. Painting, color theory, and printmaking round out the semester.

Digital Imagery: 1 semester, 1 credit; grades 10, 11, or 12; prerequisite: none
This course is designed to provide a basic conceptual and technical understanding of digital photography and Adobe Photoshop. Students will learn how to use digital cameras and scanners. Digital images will be manipulated via Adobe Photoshop.

Experimental Black and White Photography as Fine Art: 1 semester, 1 credit; grades 10, 11, or 12;
prerequisite: none
This course will teach students how to operate a 35mm camera, develop black and white film, and enlarge negatives in a traditional darkroom. Students will learn experimental techniques, by working with media like liquid light, light pens, and pinhole cameras.

Design: 1 semester, 1 credit; grades 10, 11, or 12; prerequisite: Art Foundations

Ceramics I: 1 semester, 1 credit; prerequisite: Art Foundations or grade 10, 11, 12

Ceramics II: 1 semester, 1 credit; prerequisite: Ceramics I

Jewelry: 1 semester, 1 credit; prerequisite: Art Foundations or grade 11, 12

Fashion and Fibers: 1 semester, 1 credit; grades 10, 11, 12; pre-requisite: Art Foundations; 3D Mixed Media recommended but not required

3D Mixed Media: 1 semester, 1 credit; prerequisite: Art Foundations or grade 11, 12

AP Art History: 1 semester, 1 credit; grade 11 or 12; prerequisite: none

AP Art Studio: 1 semester, 1 credit; grade 12; prerequisite: Art Foundations plus 2 semesters of a 2-dimensional Advanced Art Course and/or consent of instructor.
AP Art Studio is a rigorous college-level program intended for highly motivated students who are seriously interested in the study of art. Study areas and directions are mutually agreed upon. Students keep sketchbooks, write essays, and develop their ability to talk about their art. All students will create and build a portfolio.

AP Art Portfolio: 1 semester, 1 credit; grade 12; prerequisite: Art Foundations plus 2 semesters of Advanced Art courses and/or consent of instructor.
AP Art Studio is a rigorous college-level program intended for highly motivated students who are seriously interested in the study of art. Study areas and directions are mutually agreed upon. BUSINESS EDUCATION

Advanced Computer Applications: 1 semester, 1 credit; grades 9-12; prerequisite: none
This course familiarizes students with the school’s computer network and continues to build on their prior knowledge of the latest Microsoft Office suite, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and the Internet.

Business and Personal Finance: 1 semester, 1 credit; grades 10, 11 & 12; prerequisite: none
Fulfills school district’s financial literacy requirement. This course is designed to introduce students to forms of business ownership, investments, finance, insurance and ethics. Basic fundamentals of business are described and explained.

Graphic Communication & Web Page Design: 1 semester, 1 credit; grades 10-12; prerequisite: Advanced Computer Applications 1 or Instructor’s consent

Oral Communications Fundamentals (Speech): 1 semester, 1 credit

This course is designed to provide a sampling of the most representative and inspirational writers of British Literature from its earliest beginnings (Anglo-Saxon times) through Modern times. Authors such as Chaucer, Shakespeare, Jane Austen, Joseph Conrad, and William Golding will be studied.

Creative Writing: 1 semester, 1 credit; grades 10, 11, 12

Journalistic Writing: 1 semester, 1 credit; grades 9, 10, 11, 12

Media Communication: 1 semester, 1 credit; grades 11, 12
Media communication class aims to develop a deeper awareness of the power mass media has on American culture.

World Literature: 1 semester, 1 credit; grades 11, 12
The works of authors such as Confucius, Homer, Moliere, Hugo, Chekov, Ibsen, Solzhenitsyn, Paton, Camus, and Kafka will be studied in an attempt to appreciate the diversity of cultures as revealed in literature and find the common concerns that unite people throughout the world.



MATHEMATICS

The following two courses (Algebra A and Algebra B) together will count as two credits toward high school graduation. Most colleges will accept them as 1 algebra credit toward entrance:
Algebra A: 1 semester, 1 credit; prerequisite: freshman standing
This course is for the study of algebra over one year.

Algebra B: 1 semester, 1 credit; prerequisite: successful completion of a semester of Algebra A
This course is designed to continue the study of algebra begun in Algebra A.

Performance Courses

Jazz Ensemble: 1 semester, meets Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, zero hour (7:00 AM-7:50 AM), 1 credit; Grades 10, 11, 12 by audition only

Concert Band: 1 semester, 1 credit; grade 9; prerequisite: Minimum competency should be 8th grade exit level. This course demands outside hours.
The first quarter of the school semester is focused on marching. Marching basics for field and street will be taught, as will literature for marching band. All members of the Concert Band will participate in the Homecoming Pep Rally, Homecoming Parade, and the Homecoming game performances. All performances are required, graded assignments.

Concert Choir: 1 semester, 1 credit; grades 9, 10, 11, 12

Chamber Choir: 1 semester, meets daily; 1 credit; grades 10-12
An audition is required, which will take place during the summer, before the start of the fall semester.
