Anyone else who just totally failed last week at articulating premiere love? My thoughts were a mess that I could not explain properly. I'm blaming it on gitty premiere haze. Thinking alittle clearer this week, now haze has lifted ( ... )

Wow...cool summing up! Still lots of questions and gaps in the back stories.

Still some great bro!moments. These boys fall in to step so easily now - separations seem to be the norm and they just know how to be together again. I loved those shots of them side by side in the auction room. The way they reaction to various things. The Js have perfected these characters.

I am desperate to know what's happened to Sam. We're getting some great Dean backstory. Can't wait for Sam's.

I wonder if Thor's hammer will actually be a THING and not just an excuse to have Sam's flying around so beautifully...;)

Haha, um, summaries according to Shannon, which includes many a pipe dreams! Still sooo many questions.

I have mucho mucho thoughts on Sam from the premiere, so I was actually glad this one was more Dean-centric character wise. But I love how they're using Kevin's character to the fullest as a reminder of Sam of past seasons and what he's grown past now. And Lauren Tom was just AWESOME.

The broments were more small-scale, blink and you miss it, but they have their own flavor I always like. Last ep I remember when Crowley appeared and approached Dean, Sam moved closer to Dean, flanked behind him. This ep, there's a shot where Crowley approaches them, and Sam takes a step forward and over to stand in front of Dean. They really do react around each other and their circumstances. Very neat. And I just love the shot above, said so much about the moment, that it wasn't just a reused plot device.

I think....Sam's is next week? I kinda remember Ackles directing ep had Sam flashbacks in it, from summer spoilers?

I wonder if Thor's hammer ( ... )

Welcome SPN newbie! That's cool that you caught up in time to watch S8. I came in at the middle of S6 myself. Yes it is dangerous to be a woman on SPN, but tiger-mommy-Tran seemed to do pretty darn well, I hope she's in the next Kevin-related episode.

Wow, SPN newbie, eh?! That's awesome! Have you just finished watching S1-S7 then? That must be a weird thing to adjust to now, switching over to weekly eps! But yea, squee!!

In a way, I think 8.01 was nervewrecking because it was so much all about Sam&Dean issues. This week had more of a pause button on that, but I'm sure it's going to be more of an issue again, and I just hope that what they've begun to lay out here and last week, is indicative of where they're going with it. Seeing a bit of where the plot is headed can only help too :)

Also, I am filled with tiger-mommy-love. And at least they didn't kill her entirely. Yet. Gawd, women lead dangerous lives in this universe. I hope they get Ms Tran her soul back. She's quite formidable.Ugh, I know I was totally rooting for her! I should have known it would end that terribly. This show!! *shakes fist* Though I'm still sorta confused about what exactly happened to her at the end there. I assume her soul is now going to be what puts Kevin all the way 'in' on this mission for the ( ... )

I totally think (and hope) that this is not the last we have seen of that hammer.

Also, I think that reverse exorcism is a clue as to what Sam has been doing with his time while Dean was away. There is so much more to what was going on with Sam that what we have been led to believe.

Yea, who knows? Jim Michaels did an interview last week where he talked about how all year Sam's driven 200 some odd miles to Bobby's cabin to spend some time each month? Not sure if that will come up more, but it begs the question, if Sam was so happy in his new life, what was he doing back at the cabin?

I think we're definitely in store for a more nuanced telling of what happened to Sam in that last year. I don't think the question, Did you even look for me, Sam? is all that easy for Sam to answer.
