happy birthday MARRY THE NIGHT

Dec 03, 2012 22:08

Today (well, technically it was yesterday, but you're getting it a day late, cry me a river) is the first anniversary of the day Lady Gaga's directorial debut music video, Marry the Night was released! The fifth and final music video from the Born This Way album, this video leaked like an old tampon and then we finally got it and Cheerios haven't been the same ever since

So on its birthday we celebrate this nearly 14-minute-long autobiographical short film about the 'worst day of Gaga's life'

What's your favourite part of Marry the Night? The Prelude Pathétique? The reappearance of Dina, the dancer from the early stages of The Fame-era? The ballet scene? The exploding Trans-Am? The fashion?

I'll tell y'all what my LEAST FAVOURITE part is: that fucking black bar covering her tities! Not cool Gaga! I thought this video was about you being honest with us, c'mon, what are you so scared of, it's not as if every Little Monster hasn't already seen you naked.
Aside from this little annoyance I fully adore this video. I think The Prelude Pathétique is a piece of art in itself, who could forget that amazing monologue? Gaga did an amazing job for her first time directing, she brought a bunch of surreal images and then sewed them together with a heartbreakingly honest story about the great lows she had to come from before she could be The Queen she is today. I love how the video taps into the power of the song, like with the car exploding just in time for the first chorus and the way Gaga and the dancers all celebrate as the song lifts into the final chorus. As a whole it's so uplifting, I love it, it always put me in a fighter mood when I feel like giving up. And for Ricky Jackson's first time solo choreographing for a music video the choreography during the chorus is quite easy to remember when out on the dance floor, always a major plus!

What's your favourite live performance of Marry the Night? Favourite remix of the song?

Does anybody know what the fuck is going on in that final shot, seriously?

The hilarious Glozell's reaction to the video 'murry the night' that goes for 'like seven days', gotta love her tutu!

Any other good reaction video I've missed?
