I am, of course, avoiding work. Which means I'm here posting on my fic LJ about nothing. Nothing to see here.

Where I live right now I have to catch a very short ferry ride over to central Amsterdam. It takes five minutes and nothing beats the pleasure of being on a little boat every morning. The IJ is a busy passage out to the North Sea so there is ( Read more... )

The movies are so full of o.O that it's hard to list it all. XD The only redeeming feature is the sheer fucking hotness of PMG in that uniform. And the queue. THE QUEUE.

I will never, ever forgive the lack of lemonade and pineapples. NEVER. Among other things.

And I will never forgive A&E for failing to continue the story through to Gracay.

I will never ever forgive the loss of the HANDHOLDING IN THE CARRIAGE and the idea of watching Paul McGann hop around on a virtual wooden leg.

I know! Particularly since you could imagine PMG getting a real kick (so to speak) out of playing a lame sailor. Sigh.

You know. We should write the screenplays. Really outrageous slashy screenplays, ie totally faithful to canon. Then form a production company. Then pimp the thing round some rich people. Then offer outrageous amounts of money to PMG, Ioan, Robert Lindsay, and possibly Jamie (if we're considering a miraculous LKU).

Then mess about on a lot of gorgeous boats and on the Loire with the hottest men in existence and make the god damn thing.

And then we die happy.

We should write the screenplays.

Now THAT is actually a really good idea.

HH (helplessly): is there anything I can do?

weakly whisperedWB: Nothing, thank you, sir

HH: try to sleep

Camera pans from HH's face to WB and then down his body to his side where his hand dangles out of the blanket. WB's fingers twitch slightly, moves towards HH, who takes it in his own. WB strokes HH's hand gently and softly. Camera pans to HH's slightly bemused but very touched face.

I'll go and get my coat. =)

Don't you dare get your coat. The fun has only just begun. XD

Who would play Brown do you reckon? I want to say Jonathan Rhys Meyers, but that's just cos he's hot. And the Comte?

I love the fic by the way. Sorry to be slow with the beta. Life is a bit mad, but I aim to get to it asap.

I haven't seen anything he's in, but from IMDB, he certainly has the build and the facial bone structure for the role.

For the Comte, I would say Ian McKellan, but he's a little too old I think?

Hi random passerby!

Though I am not sure how much mileage the 'buckland has potential' thread actually has... but each to her own. :D

True. Though I tend to come at it from the angle of: it's Hornblower. In full technicolour. With hot men. Any further quality issues are a bonus. :D

Expectations are kind of low when you've been brought up with ITV.

I weep for what might have been. Especially after seeing Peter Weir's Master & Commander. Which was, btw, SO MUCH like BtQ. The trip round the horn, the damaged ship, hanging out on a Pacific island, chasing Frogs instead of Dagos. And just how well would Bush get along with Aubrey? LIKE A RAGING WHOREHOUSE ON FIRE. While the 2 boyfriends sat over in a corner talking about math and the rights of man in their banyans. :>

Master and Commander was a beautiful film. I love how Weir handles music so judiciously.

I am not into Aubrey so I don't know anything, but even from here I love the crossover potential. And what you say, based on the nothing I know, sounds exactly right. :D

I've been reading the Aubrey novels, ever since I finished Hornblower and wanted more of the same. I thought Peter Weir did a fantastic job on the movie- if only Hornblower had the same treatment, how awesome would it be? =)

OMG=> Bush+Aubrey would be awesome. A M&C/Hornblower crossover is one of the things I want to write in future, I'm surprised at how little of it is out there.

I'm surprised too, actually. But then again I don't venture near Aubrey fandom so maybe there is some there... but I suppose despatches would signal it for us. Hmm.

One day, when there is the time to read O Brien...
