The halls are now undecked, the doors de-wreathed and the house looks so....blah.

The holidays are always crazy--a lot of work and stress--but this year was special to me. Of course, having Kyle here was part of it, but it was more than just that. I never doubted when I was sick that I'd be here for Christmas, but I wasn't sure what condition I would be in. To be healthy and strong was a gift far greater than anything that could have come in a box.

My son, Mike, came home on Dec 22 and stayed until the 30th. His visit at Thanksgiving had been so short--this was really great. I realized how much I miss him--his wry sense of humor, his quiet strength. We had a great dinner on Christmas Eve--Aimee and Ryan and my sister were here. And Mr. Kyle, of course. The next day, we went to Tom's sister's for a big family gathering. Unfortunately, Kyle screamed his head off for what seemed like an hour. I think the house was just too crowded and warm for him. He finally fell asleep in my arms, but poor Aimee was really upset. This was the first time a lot of the family was going to meet him and he....wasn't at his best, poor thing. Well, I'm sure he'll enjoy next year a whole lot more.

Here is Mr. Kyle with Nana and Grandpa:
