We've had non-stop gales here for about 10 days, especially these last few days. I'd say for the first few days the gusts were over 50mph with the actual wind being 30-36mph. Then the last few days the gusts were over 70mph and the actual wind was 48mph! Damage has been done to a lot of places but mainly we've been lucky here where we live. Some parts of Scotland have had damage, loss of electricity and an awful lot of road accidents :( as well as floods.
Around Arbroath the seas came over in places, structural damage etc - but as I said, not anywhere near as some areas.
We seem to be in the eye of the storm at the moment - from no wind to it just starting to pick up. We don't believe it's over yet as the forecasts are for more gales, right around the UK again!
Feel really sorry for those who have been affected down south, saw some pictures and it looks dreadful. I really did feel for the kids as they don't understand why they've had to leave their homes or got no electricity :(
Am hoping that not too much wildlife and plant-life have been destroyed but know that the birds have been affected and the sanctuaries are working full stop to try and save them.
