I was writing down my homework in my english class today, and I read a quote at the side of the page of my school planner. They give us planners at the beginning of every year and they're almost always filled with extra, useless little things like weekly discussions. I don't know who comes to school on Monday thinking, hey there's a really good discussion about caring in the school planner this week, let's discuss it at our lunch table! But once in a while I remember what good weekly quotes they have in there, and I can forgive the cheesy pictures and sections for weekly reflections and odd study tips that all seem so weird and unlikely to be used by the majority of students. And I was so struck by this quote by Thomas Edison, which I actually felt reflected theories I already have, that I thought I'd share some of the better quotes from this nifty little planner.
"I have not failed, I have just found 10,000 ways that don't work"-Thomas Edison
"It's the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life interesting."-Paulo Coelho
"Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people."-Eleanor Roosevelt
"The important thing is not to stop questioning."-Albert Einstein
"Courage is being scared to death and saddling up anyway."-John Wayne
"The greatest courage is to be happy."-Andrew Harvey
"I see my body as an instrument, rather than an ornament."-Alanis Morissette
"If you're coasting, you're going downhill."-Unknown
"A friend is someone who gives you total freedom to be yourself."-Jim Morrison
"Our anxiety does not come from thinking about the future, but from wanting to control it."-Kahlil Gibran
"The biggest man you ever did see was once a baby."-Bob Marley
"The earth has music for those who listen."-William Shakespeare
"Do or do not, no try."-Yoda, Jedi Master
"You grow up the day you have your first laugh- at yourself."-Ethyl Barrymore
"It is the weak who are cruel. Gentleness can only be expected from the strong."-Leo Rosten
"I grumbled because I had no shoes on my feet until farther down the street I met a man who had no feet."-Indian Proverb
"Intelligent people know of what they speak; fools speak of what they know."-Minchas Shabbos
"How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world."-Anne Frank
"Your aspirations are your possibilities."-Samuel Johnson
"You just can't beat the person who never gives up."-Babe Ruth
And here's one that I love, that I thought I'd put in here for those in my life that I love, and those who have found love:
"How bold one gets when one is sure of being loved!"-Sigmund Freud
