A day of happiness is coming

A recent comment made by a friend of mine has really gotten under my skin. Although I do not have “blind allegiance” to the Democratic Party, I do not necessarily see those who have one to be a bad thing. Its not that they are ignorant and unaware of current events, it’s that they are in touch with the broader scope of politics today.

Our government is set up so that the party who owns the most seats, weather it is in the house or the senate, controls the chairmanship to the subcommittees. This means that they get to decide what issues are talked about, and they alone hold this power. If a liberal minded bill on social welfare is proposed, there is a good chance that it will never even see the senate floor because it will never get discussed by the subcommittee.

I applaud all of you out there who think that you are above the back stabbing of US politics, but the fact of the matter is that doesn’t matter. You have to vote along party lines plain and simple. Look at here in the 6th congressional district. Mike Rodgers is not that big of a screw up, he has done some good things yes. Does Jim Markonowski deserve on merit alone to beat him? More than likely not. However you better be damn sure that I would rather give my vote to someone who is qualified, but may not be the best man for the job, as long as it means the Democratic Party can take back control of the government.

Let’s make one thing clear: this is the republicans fault. Blame the economy on Granholm? How about the fact that she inherited the single largest budget deficit in the entire history of our country! That’s right she came into a larger hole than any other governor ever had!(who was in power for the 12 years before her?) Although the economy is not great now, it is getting better through her leadership. If you want to blame her for what has gone wrong then you are blindly following the beat of the republican leadership. Oh and by the way the state congress is the one who creates the budget and fiscal policy for the state, not Granholm.

The idea of a democratic “demise” over the last eight years is laughable. Look at where our country was eight years ago today. We were literally the largest economy in the history of the world! We were still relatively respected abroad, unemployment was low, and crime was decreasing. Eight years latter under republican leadership we have seen the largest attack on US soil ever, the loss of virtually all respectability across the globe, the worst economy in terms of capital and jobs ever, and a country more politically polarized then the times of Jackson and Johnny Q. We were on the top and now we are racing towards the bottom. Who was captaining this ship when we started to sink? Not Clinton or Gore, Kennedy or Kerry. It was a lying President, a cheating senate, and a blind house. This was caused by the republicans, and now it is up to the democrats to fix it.

So yes I do not oppose straight ticket voting. I honestly do not care if a qualified, possibly under deserving, person sits in that chair in Washington, as long as he or she is a Democratic. It’s the problem as a whole people. Individual races and who is there representing you means nothing. They must follow party platforms and vote with the party. Voting for one is like voting for all in this election.

I am not saying that they are always right, or that the Democrats have never wronged anyone. All I am saying is that if you like the ways things are, and the direction our country is headed, vote for the status qou and stagnation. Vote for the Republicans who have disgraced this country. If you want change and a fresh start at the long road ahead vote Democrat.

P.S. Trickle Down Economics DOES NOT WORK, IS IMMORAL AND UNETHICAL, AND LUDICRIS IN EVERY POSSIBLE SENSE!

Canada spends about 5% of their GDP on health care, and they have universal heath care. We spend almost 20% on health care and we are among the worst in terms of coverage in the devolved world.
