Update on the various fronts. LJ format has it split up on different cuts, but since it's going out to FB, I'm trying to make this little intro as long as possible to ensure that nobody has to ready anything they're not very interested.
On the family......
Family is still coo coo for Cocoa Puffs. My father has been in a snit lately, and he refuses to talk about it. I'm thinking it's either family (his brother is driving him a little crackers, and his dad is trying to be thrifty about medication....which he shouldn't) or the fact that Bear Stearns got bagged for something naughty and as a result is having cut backs. He likely won't go as VP of tech, but he's got friends in other areas. There's also a physical aspect. He's herniated the entirety of his lumbar spine and is working his way up. They've also become compressed due to aging degeneration of the stuff between the vertebrae, so he's grumpy by default as a result; you'd be too. It's painful. Combine that with stress, and you have Mr. Cranky.
My mom is going back to school this fall. I think I'm going to be immensely amused because even though she was top-of-her-field back in October 1985, she's taken a 21-year vacation to raise me and the sib. As evidenced by the fun we had installing the new wireless router, she's a bit behind the times. Smart lady, but I wonder if she's going to be that annoying know-it-all kid that everyone hates XD.
The doctors did a silly thing and switched up my sibling's meds. I think she's still adjusting to it; she's sleeping 12 to 14 hours a day and has been moody. Not as bad as she was before she got medicated, but still, it's not fun. She's also going to college, which is why I'm getting a bit of a tuition break this year. She's pretty excited about it, but I have a feeling she's going to blow up her phone with the amount of times she spends on it with Mum or me.
Myself? I'm hanging in there. If I had to spend another month or two in here like I did last year, I might run into traffic, but for now, it's tolerable. Distance lends enchantment, but I'm rapidly getting ready to get back to Philly. I'm waiting for word back on my internship. I've drifted out of contact from a few people from school, so I need to readjust those relationships as necessary. I miss Mel, the stage combat folks, and everyone else. Can't wait for school to start, actually. Odd that.
In regard to WoW:
Well, I'm rogue advisor, but I might as well be an officer at this point, as I'm the only person bossing others around. I'm getting new RAM so that the game runs a bit better and staves off the need for a new computer -- this one's warranty runs out in December, so I'm going to have to be careful about it. Many of my friends have headed out to a new server, so it's getting a little empty around here. I'm also hitting a bit of a road block in terms of progression. If we don't down the next two bosses in raid, I'm going to be very bored with my rogue in short order, other than using her to get money for a super-speedy flying mount. I got alts to level, but the guild needs raid progression or else I'll allow myself to be seduced elsewhere. Or I'll go make my Undead warlock level up a lot and just raid with her. We'll see. I am concerned about the wall that the guild is about to hit. And hard. We were on a roll for awhile there, but it's tapered off. There have been some disparaging comments made about people who have recently jumped server, but I don't blame them. Thunderlord is a dead end for raid progression. I now have the gear -- all epics -- to get into a good guild, but due to the lack of oomph on the server itself, I might have to swim elsewhere. I'll consider it while I'm playing my baby rogue on Thorium Brotherhood. Level her up to goof around with one of SK's alts.
In regard to my professional life:
I'm still mucking around with the ideas I cooked up last fall. Not the play -- God no. Rather, the television idea. It's viable, I think; we always need another cop show. We love law and order and truth and justice and all that jazz. I'll run a good final version of my episode past Larry, my screenwriting teacher. He did say that out of the crew I was with when I took his claw, I was the one with the most potential. I made him a script in a genre he did not like...and he liked it. That's just good writing right there. So he'll be my sounding board and hopefully my way in as a script doctor, if nothing else.
Waiting on the internship as I said before.
Thinking of starting up my fantasy/sci-fi book. It would sort be a cross between Dune and Harry Potter...yes, I know, odd. The idea originally sprang for a germ of Harry Potter fan fiction, but I kept picturing it happening on a Dune-like planet...so I think I'll make it for my own. Very early in writing stages.
Other than that, not much. Been very quiet this summer. I need to play my trumpet. I should, really. Never stopped loving the instrument; it just got pushed aside for travel and other academic pursuits. Plus I have no idea where to play it after I move out. I just thought I should mention that since I'm listening to a rather patriotic song on trumpet thanks to Launchcast Radio via Yahoo.
Hopefully, via my internship this year, I'll meet some new blood.
Oh, and I have new piccies. The best is
