Name me one of my characters, and I'll tell you the inspiration(s) behind their initial conception, whether they be real-life people or fictional characters. Present, future & past are all fair game!
I haven't done a meme in ages, feels like. I also don't feel like listing out my characters, but you can find a list of my usernames

Originally I went "I want to play a trans char." Then I flipped a coin to decide FtM or MtF and came up MtF, and I chose Marlene as her name because of Suzanne Vega's song, "Marlene on the Wall." It actually sort of arose out of my own recent gender issues and it was my way of working through them.
Later incarnations were attempts to capture different aspects of her character but the only one I feel really worked well was Second Heaven's version, where she was largely post-transition and just had this ~*secret*~ looming behind her while being a really big girly-girl.
Mike
Originally I just wanted to take up a Guardian slot because they sounded interesting, and I thought playing a militant feminist lesbian in a matriarchy sounded like a fun time. Her character developed into being a vulgar, acts angry all the time but is really the chillest person, sort of character.
Amelia
Amelia is based on a character from my novel, Angel's Creed! The main heroine, in fact, where she is a summoner and not a clockwork engineer. Basically when GH was first starting up I was having a lot of trouble getting into the setting and thinking up characters, and I wanted my first character(s) to be new ones instead of rerolls, so I went digging for story chars I could translate into the game. Amelia felt like the natural choice because she was very social and I thought she'd be easy to CR with and play. (I didn't count on her being basically drama-resistant, which made her hard for that setting.)
Naran
Ravi is also a character from the same novel, where he is Amelia's godfather &c as well. While I was reading the game info and looking at the part where people get forced into marriages because it's just what you do, I went "I want to play a gay man who's stuck in a marriage he hates." I didn't want to play that without having his wife around for the dynamic, though, so I asked Panda to app her for me. I chose the novel character as this base because he's also closeted gay and full of self-loathing for it, so it seemed like a natural fit.
Originally I didn't app him with social anxiety in mind but it just kind of developed out of his personality and also because I wanted to take a step away from the usual kind of stoic I play and play a stoic who's got a lot of shit going on under the surface.
