[When Jeanne awakens, she does so just like she would do anything else- that is, in a burst of energy and noise and French accent.]

Roger! G-Gilles!...La Hire? [a slooow look around] Li...ane?

[Well, seeing as this certainly wasn't where she passed out, Jeanne's gonna jump out of bed- wait why is she wearing frilly pajamas instead of armor - and ( Read more... )

[She jerks to life and jabs the broom at him, more out of surprise than hostility.]

Wh...What? But I was in the middle of an assault, and then- [A shake of the head, half-hoping that doing so could clear her confusion away, and then she speaks fiercely to cover up her growing anxiety.] -nevermind. You're a civilian, yes? I must know where the English are!

[She holds tight to her end, out of reflex as well; you just don't give up your weapon. But her expression softens, naively, just a little.] ....then please tell me, soldier, where I am, if not where I need to be.

[She takes it back slowly, holding it close; she begins to notice the absent weight of her armlet and swordbelt and a hundred other things she grew accustomed to wearing.] United States of....? I have never heard of such a place. Why and how can this be?

[Jeanne looks at him warily, but accepts the coat with a nod of thanks, also noticing the cold. She moves over to the bench and sits, refusing to wince even though she ran out here without shoes.] Independent....then those in charge of this place will not turn me over to their former rulers?

[She relaxes just a little; maybe that's incredibly dangerous, but Abel is speaking her language and she always did find it hard to fully mistrust those who do that. Jeanne brings up her knees to her chest and huddles in Abel's coat, vaguely noticing that her hair is longer than it should be.] Oh- it is all right. I'll be fine. What else can you tell me about this place? I've never seen houses built like these before....

So....we are made into husbands and wives?

[The shock and consternation in her voice is sharp, and she shivers slightly, but not because of the chilly weather. So she has been kidnapped, and into a very strange situation as well....but if the English aren't behind it, what then? She is still so very far from the war she needs to fight. But Jeanne cracks a very wan smile all the same.]

Ah....I have been. Called a frog, that is.

I was not planning to. The very idea is....hn. [Her pronounced frown finishes the sentence: "it makes me VERY uncomfortable." And she shakes her head once, moving on.]

My name is Jeanne, sir Abel. Jeanne d'Arc.

[firmly, not looking at Abel; so many people have heard of her already, so much more pressure.] No- I am not above a fellow child of France and soldier-in-arms, whatever you may have heard. [All that talk of "La Pucelle", being chosen by God....she wants none of the glory.]
