December 2nd Post - H50: Steve and Danny's relationship
My head canon for Steve and Danny goes something like this (whether they are currently in a relationship, or on the verge of being in one, it varies in my head):
Steve is utterly captivated by Danny, by his quicksilver moods, his passion, his ability to complain about pretty much anything, his quick smile, his even quicker scowls, his snug button-down shirts, and by those pants - the grey ones - that hug every curve of Danny's ass, not that Steve is looking or anything. He's also captivated by how damn big Danny's heart is, and amused by how Danny pretends not to have that big heart. Steve knows how gentle and soft and boundlessly affectionate Danny truly is, behind all those words and waving hands and looks of shocked disbelief.
Danny, on the other hand, is totally not intrigued by Steve's stoic, heroic ways, nope, not at all, that kind of thing does not appeal to him (there's a fine line between brave and insane, Steven) and not at all intrigued by those tattoos (really, both biceps, Steve? Was that necessary?) or Steve's penchant for sleeveless shirts, and yeah, okay, maybe Steve's fierce loyalty is kind of touching, and Steve wearing his dress blues to testify at Danny's custody hearing was a nice touch and the thing is, Danny's pretty sure that Steve would do anything for him, and that he would do anything for Steve, despite his best judgement.
They are a team, they are partners, they are friends, but they both know it goes deeper than all that. And they are both a little scared by it.
