Ship meme - Day 03 - A pairing that needs to happen now?
This is a question I needed to cheat my way out of -
Day 03 - A pairing that needs to happen now?
I've just caught up on all of Chuck, where the ship has been resolved already, and for the rest I've been watching mainly sitcoms: The Big Bang Theory, HIMYM and 30 Rock, and I don't ship any of them. I suppose I could say I want Ted/The Mother to happen now so they can put the series AND the audiences out of their misery (it's really dragging on too long and the only memorable moment in the whole 5th season was the musical number about suits!)
So I've decided to choose a ship that has technically already happened, but since I'm not happy with the way it was handled, for me it's like it never happened the way I wanted it to.

Grissom/Sara were one of those couples I shipped from day 1. When she arrives on a crime scene at Grissom's request, you just know these two have a past. They went on for three seasons sending each other mixed signals, it was a torturing, angsty ship where she made it very clear she wanted to be with him but he was so closed to the idea she ended up going on the rebound with some paramedic guy who turned out to be married and damaged her even more. Angst aside, they then concentrated on Sara's own family issues which were clouding her judgment and cost her a suspension from work. Grissom went to her flat and held her hands while she cried it all out. What happened afterwards is kind of blurry. I stopped watching but kept an eye on any shippy developments and one season finale, we saw Grissom in a hotel room with Sara coming out of the bathroom. Bam - they'd got together - OFF SCREEN. This is even worse than having a ship drag on forever. I want to see their first kiss and find out how they got together, what they said to each other, what made them finally decide it could work. I got none of that and so for me, this is the ship that needs to happen, cos I never got to see it. There's still time - the series is still going on, even if Billy Petersen has quit. We might get a flashback episode or something to answer my questions.
Oh, I forgot to add - at some point, Grissom and Sara got married - ALSO OFF SCREEN. How they thought it was going to be ok for people to accept it I'll never know, especially because with Grissom's character you'd never expect him to be one to propose and settle down and commit forever.
I realise I may be missing some key plot points here but that doesn't change the fact that an off-screen ship is not a ship. It's still cheating on the question, of course, but I hope you see my point :)
