Update on sis's pup: It looks pretty good! Little guy is going to be treated and the specialist thinks they can lick this using standard operating procedures.

assorted odds and ends:

well, i'm sick of it raining! but at least it's not freezing rain or an ice storm.

i have to have a new glasses perscription and i'm a half-diopter away from needing bi-focals. for now, i get around that little bit of need by taking the specs off to read (like i've been doing for a million years.) also, have to have a bit of a correction for an astigmatism.

we took in a foster-dog a week ago. that was fine: owner will take her back once he's got a roommate in the house. however, the roommate is supposed to be is now-17 soon-to-be-18 year old girlfriend. also, we've discovered that his dog is used to competing for food. our girl Sugar is not. Result? the sooner he gets his dog out of here the better! However, if this dog is still here come January 1, *I* will be talking to this guy and telling him that he will get his dog within two weeks or she will be turned over to the Humane Society. I'm all for helping out a pup, and I'm all for helping out some people, but I will be damned if our girl Sugar is going to be scared to death to go in HER doghouse and near HER food dish cause she's getting growled at. And yes, we feed them far apart from each other. And there is still growling and barking.

I've now read the southern vampire mysteries, 1 thru 5. No, I have not watched True Blood. I'm not really inclined to watch, either. Simply 'cause the guy they have for Eric just... he's not right! Eric's attitude on that face/body to me just equates to GIANT JERK, not heaving-sighs exasperated acceptance of bad behavior. and frankly, I think book-Bill has the market cornered on BIG JERK (he has options about explaining things and NEVER DOES IT. GRAH!) Book-Eric is deeply amusing, book-Sookie is totally believable in her reactions and comes off as being reasonable and unreasonable in just the right doses. Book-Sam tho? AWWWW! I'm completely smitten with him and I would let him sleep on the bed all he wants. Every sex scene is really well written too! If there has to be explicit sex, that is how it should be done: not over-emphisised, not too drawn out, not wordy, and hot as the hinges of hell. My imagination can fill in anything it needs to. Confession: I really want to indulge in a bit of Sam Merlotte x Remus Lupin smut. However, I shall refrain 'cause even *I* can't keep a straight face at the idea.

grandma isn't anywhere near clear on time frames any more and has just done battle with withdrawals from all the pain meds, sleeping stuff, and mood-altering drugs. and my great aunt has fallen twice in a month (once spending 7 hours sitting on the cold cement floor of the basement rather than pressing her life alert button.) i am glad tho that mom feels that she can call me and talk about handling the challenges of caring for these two women. Sometimes, I think I give her insight that she's not thought of before (mom's very no-nonsense and super-practical. i've got a little bit more understanding of things that make NO sense to her. but neither of us can figure out the sitting there for 7 hours.)

Lu and Oli are in fine form. I think they would both rather hibernate in the cold weather, but they don't because Jacob and I won't sit still long enough for them to hibernate on us. It's funny to watch Oli when I have a picture of another orange cat upon the computer screen. He's so attentive and talky. We've had to give up keeping the tree-skirt straight. It's a losing battle when they find it so nice to ruck up and lay on.

and that is all of my news.
