So. Dyfus talked to my parents last night, and then only after did I get filled in on more details. They're going to go in for counseling. My mom is devastated that this happened to begin with, and my dad is taking it in stride, realizes he has problems, and is willing to work on it. I talked to them both this morning, mom was crying, dad was laughing. Dad even volunteered to come pick up Matt with me for New Year's. I said sure, and it would be a good time to get all that Army/Navy crap out of the way, and Dad said it wouldn't happen. But we all agreed to still make fun of the Coast Guard. It felt good to laugh.
Yeah, Matt's meeting my parents New Years. Nervous? Hell yes. I am, anyway. Matt's looking forward to it, and so is my family.
Matt also feels bad that he lost my Christmas present. I told him not to worry too much about it, but it was a rather expensive gift, and he feels horrible about it and is going to try to replace it. I just told him all I need is him.
Am I feeling a bit better? Yeah. Do I have the Christmas Spirit? Hell no. But Andy, Avie and Becca have threatened to beat it into me. And I'm sure they'll do it, too. We'll see what happens.
