Being an early adopter of technology has its certain pitfalls. Basically, you're beta testing their product, and you're paying to do so. I was the first off the block to get the MacBook Pro. While I do not have the display whine that plague some early batches, I do have the CPU idle whine. I'm using a
software fix to get around it, but there does seem to be a
voluntary recall, but I would be computerless for the days in the shop. Before I do that, I've frankensteined a couple of PCs into a super Athlon 64 x2 PC and installed Windows XP Pro x64. The 64 bit Windows. The 64 bit Windows that most third party vendors don't have drivers for. No wireless connection, no working printer. So back to square one - I'm hoping work is able to score a 32 bit license from Micro$oft for me, based on a irate customer who can't get anything done on the 64 bit version. Nuts.
