Ok, so it took a first-place tie for me to break my long-running LJ silence. All I can say about the Phillies is holy fucking shit, man, that team has NO BUSINESS being anywhere near a playoff spot, and here we are crammed into the same seat with the Mets, a team with much better pitching and comparable hitting. This is of course why I do not bet on sports, because when Hamels went down in August I would have bet the mortgage that there is no way the Phils make the playoffs. My other thought is: really? This year? The one *&*^*&%^&*^ year that I'm out of the country? I will have to buy the Internet playoffs package and stay up until 5 a.m. every night. So be it.
