Shower
The great shower project is finished. We now have a working upstairs shower and 'tis a boon not having to trudge downstairs to the chilly guest bedroom to ablute.
It only took a year and a half.
Not full time obviously. Many frustrating stops and starts. Dithering over frustrating technical details. And to be honest, good old fashioned intransigence. There were always plenty of good reasons to do other things than the shower.
It was the worst DIY project ever. It fought me all the way. Everything that could go wrong did go wrong. Much time was spent in the loft with sweat dripping down my nose. At one point I had to take the unit off the wall and had it outside in the sunshine on a kitchen chair, plumbed to the outside tap, so that I could debug it. But I got there.
The main lesson I learnt (the one I keep learning) is that things are cheap for a reason.
