YOU ARE FREE
By Allen Feeman
Love between just one and one is strong beyond a reason.
Love between just one and one can be true, no doubt.
But love between just one and one that shuts out every other love
Is a love, to me, that chains and binds and keeps the world out.
I seek no loves demanding lives aloof in righteous solitudes.
But because I am a social beast,
It is the world my life includes.
Please realize these are just opinions. I know how they reflect on me.
I neither judge nor hold contempt
For those that disagree.
I place no chains upon a heart thats captured my attentions.
I build no walls to hold inside souls seeking outside bonding.
I break the cage imposed on me, hoarding my affections.
I drop the leash that pulls back on a love that sees beyond me.
I am someone that is full of life and friends that I have met
That love and care about my dealings
And likely will until my death.
Never shut those people out nor close the door though which they came
Into your life to bring you joy.
Never play that silly game.
When I say 'chain', do not think I mean the word 'commitment'.
When I say 'love', do not think I'm just confusing it with 'lust'.
When I say 'free', do not think I mean only when your away.
Your life is yours and mine is mine. Together, we have 'trust'.
This is but a little taste of how I feel about this thing
That we all crave within our lives
To nurture, love, and keep.
Mine is love that freely flows to those who understand that I
Will not be forced to play a game
Of unrequited sacrifice.
If you love me, I will never tell you how to live your life.
If you love me, love yourself when we're together or apart.
If you love me, I'll never say 'You can't', 'You wont', 'You will', 'You must'.
If you love me, you are free. Be exactly who you are.
We who come together dance to music of the heart and mind
That loves and laughs and cries and grieves
Together and at the same time
We hold and help, support and love each other as we dance, unbound,
To drums and music gently seething
Forth from souls that we have found.
Just realized I had already posted this back in teh summer. Oh well. I feel compelled to leave it here for a second appearance.
