A few days ago I saw a guy on the train reading the New York Post. Nothing unusual in that, many people enjoy reading the Post and often do so while on the train. However, there something odd about the way he held his paper and in my heightened state of boredom I decided to take a closer look. It turns out that his paper was merely a front. He wasn’t reading the Post. He was reading a comic book. Normally I’m pleased whenever I see people indulging in one of my own indulgences, but instead I was disgusted by his need to conceal the truth about what he was reading from complete strangers. Furthermore, if you’re going to be pretentious you really should be reading the New York Times. Fail!
Oh well, at least there is still hope for next generation. Later on the subway there was an absolutely adorable child of indeterminable age jumping up and down in her seat chanting SUPERGIRL over and over again.
Yesterday there was parrot. It was one of the most beautifully colored and unexpected things I had ever seen. Unfortunately, it also had one of the shrillest voices I've ever heard. Thank God the man accompanying it got off after two stops.
