Decisions, decisions this week.
On the one hand, it is Holy Week for Christians great and small. Or distant, in my case. Respect, tradition, even peity, in my own special way.
On the other, there's St. Pattie's Day this week as well. Green shirts followed by green beer followed by green barf. Not a holiday I'm particularly close to either, even if I am part Irish in some way on my mother's side. There's some story about County Cork and emigration and some divorce with a custody battle that involved taking a gun into a courthouse back in the late 19th century, but I'll save that gem for another entry.
But this is the first time since 1915 that the two observances overlap. Neither institution seems to know what to do about it, except maybe the Irish, who would probably be drinking anyway. I know I would if I were in their green, curly shoes. I wonder what they did back then? Hop on their pennyfarthings and catch some vaudeville?
I wonder if it is kosher to dye the eggs kelly green, maybe with ham. (Triple zinger score!)
I realize I'm a bit scatalogical today.
