And so Begins the Vacation

Jun 16, 2005 10:21

It actually begins tomorrow morning when my wife and I will get into the car and start the 20 hour drive to Orlando. I know a lot of people who dislike long car rides, but when Cathy and I went down to Florida for our honeymoon it was actually very enjoyable. Not only does a car ride allow us uninterrupted time to talk, we have also rented a number of audio books that will make the trip very enjoyable. I think that the only problem that I will have with the car ride is that it will be straight through. The last time we went down to Orlando, we took about a five days to drive there, stopping at a number of sites along the way, most of them spur of the moment. I know we spent two days in Chattanooga that we did not plan on, and it was a great deal of fun.

I think the biggest issue I have on the vacation is that I would like to take the dogs with us, but the resort doesn’t allow pets bigger than 30 lbs or so. Due to this, we have to leave them at home, but luckily my mom is going to house sit for us and watch the dogs. This is really for the best, since we don’t want to put them in a kennel for the 10 days we are going to be gone. Of course, next year, we are just going to take a vacation near home and take the dogs camping with us, which will be a lot more fun.

I don’t know if I will have the ability to keep in touch on vacation. I am taking my laptop from work with me and I am assuming the resort has internet access or, hopefully, wireless access. If it does, I will post a vacation log as I go along. If not, I will do a summary post when I get back.

Anyway, take care everyone. See you in ten days.
