SO Kharg has got it into his head that he should avoid trying to converse/relate to/get to know any other Deimos/Demons in general in camp, as he's trying to sever all bonds relating to Darc. This is a brilliant idea, I know. So he'll be intentionally trying to lay low around people he knows aren't human and may even try to ignore them. THIS DOESN'T' MEAN -I- WANT TO IGNORE YOU. I encourage anyone and everyone to harass Kharg to high hell :|b
MOVING RIGHT ALONG--an essay!1 Explaining the above and other. Things. I am not even any more as I just ended up rambling. SO HAVE SOME INSIGHT INTO THE MIND OF KHARG. It is a magical confusing place.
OKAY so a brief overview of Kharg's camp life: He's been here for about. . .9 months. And stuff has CONTINUED to happen to him but because of his stubbornness, he's very unwilling to push his world views aside. So, he hasn't changed that much. BUT at the same time, he'd become a lot more open minded. He had started applying his diplomatic hero-ish tactics and started trying to hear the OTHER side of stories from various demons/non-humans from different worlds. Of course he'd still argue against them regardless, but that's just the way he is. But he was trying!! If I recall correctly, he never met any deimos/non-human that fits his narrow definition exactly--aside from Darc--and it frustrated him. But! As long as Camp remains peaceful, there's nothing wrong with that. Sure it's aggravating, but Kharg genuinely loves the fact that so many people (humans) can live in peace here with. . .'other' species, and everyone's happy and funtimes and cue Disney birds. He feels it's a place worth protecting, and never wants anything to happen to it.
MOVING AHEAD, let's bring DARC!!1ONE into the picture. Darc is his twin--a living, annoying reminder of what he is. But he doesn't actually hate Darc. Sera pegged him perfectly--he just doesn't understand Darc. AT ALL. And as someone who's usually pretty good at understanding others, it drives Kharg up the wall. It's why he's always in his face, why he's harsher toward Darc than he would be to any other person (and really, any other Deimos), and why he would try to question him every chance he got. HE WANTED TO KNOW STUFF but is just to prideful to be straight-forward.
Also, he'd never admit it, and probably doesn't even believe it--but he's kind of jealous of Darc. Okay, not even kind of. HE'S REALLY JEALOUS. He hates that people take his side and assume that Kharg is a bully, he dislikes the fact that Yuta is more comfortable around a deimos than him, a human!1, and Sera likes him too. What is this! All he does is grump and say how much of a big bad Deimos he is, what do you guys see in him 8(!!1 That aside, he hates how much more in control Darc tends to be in this environment--not because there are so many other Deimos around, but the fact that they're both half. Darc's had years to adjust and come to terms with his life, and he constantly pushes that on Kharg and pressing his DENIAL buttons. It kind of infuriates Kharg that Darc can/has accepted what they are but he CAN'T. I am just as level-headed! AUGH.
Kharg also keeps getting derailed everytime he notices a positive point about Darc, because Darc is a dick and distracts him whenever he slips up on information. But really, Kharg isn't that dumb. For instance, even though he's kind of meh at Yuta being so attached to Darc, he knows Darc would never hurt a child. He knows he has MORALS and VALUES and dammit why can't he just admit it. The reason he rubs things like this into Darc's face is because he thinks Darc is purposely trying to HIDE HIS HUMANITY!1 and Kharg too, is a dick, and will lord it over everytime he finds something new about Darc. IT'S FUN. LOOK I WAS RIGHT ABOUT THIS 8))) but he can be easily turned around by someone pointing out his own flaws/hypocrisy, as Darc manages to do. Boo.
ANYWAY I'M STILL RAMBLING let's skip ahead to the CFUW Pony game. DESPITE HIS BITCHING...Kharg would have been okay with being partners. He's like, hey we're teaming up again! This time WITHOUT the world ending! But they got off on the wrong foot (also Darc not telling him THEY WERE WOLVES 8( ) and then
Two Important threads happened between them (the last is v. sad but now I can't help but laugh now because. Ponies!1). We carried this development over. SHORT VERSION OF IT IS Kharg and Darc are arguing, as usual, but Kharg, being a douche, mentions that life would have been so much easier had they never met--specifically, if Darc had DIED before they met or found out they were related. So. Lulz! It gradually descends into agreeing that they'll never stop hating each other and will never talk to each other again--nor are they obligated to acknowledge each other as brothers. Or that's what it seems like from Kharg's POV.
He's basically...given up. He shouldn't have wanted to understand Darc better--he never should have been invested in him. He's the cause of all his ANGST!1 in the first place. So he hasn't spoken to Darc since. Hadn't seen him either until my most recent post, but even then he just plain ignored him. And it's been working out for him so far! Out of sight out of mind, and he doesn't even have much inner turmoil. HE'S PRETTY GOOD AT BLOCKING THINGS OUT \o/
But then, he's constantly reminded that there are OTHER Deimos in camp. Others like Darc, others like him, others that will KEEP REMINDING HIM of what a hypocrite he is, how WRONG he is, just like Darc. NOT COOL. So he's trying to take a new approach--shunning every Deimos in camp and basically not going to give them the time of day unless they are doing something wrong and thus need justicing. SMRT right? He fails to take into account just how many Deimos he talks to on a daily basis. I actually meant to play this out in a playercest post with Apollo and Ash but never got around to it. They'd just end up thinking he's an amazing idiot, anyway.
Now, due to his AMAZING PLAN to not associate with Deimos ever, he feels he can't be bias and has pretty much shunned Sera. Winner! Sera is, or was, Kharg's closest friend in camp. Pretty much his best friend! She's supported him, constantly stood up for him, and just listened to all his ramblings without being as judgmental as anyone else. And after learning everything she's been through, Kharg utterly respects her. Before this point, I could really see Kharg being completely cool with Sera and if by chance his party had found their way to camp, he'd stand up for her and vouch for her awesomeness.
But, that was before this point. Here's a shorthand version of
this thread: Kharg really and truly feels like this is a logical step in. . .some direction. He isn't sure. NEITHER AM I. But it does make sense to him. For one, Darc doesn't want anything to do with him! He's made that perfectly clear! Kharg feels like he shouldn't want anything to do with him either! Right after the end of canon, Kharg and Darc were cool with each other, only not at all. They had basically accepted a "Let's just stay out of each others way forever and ever til we get our worlds set back up :|" Kharg is now trying to extend this to camp--even if that means not talking to his friends.
And moving back to her situation, Kharg...is actually sad about it. He couldn't even look at Sera while he made his declaration because holy wow those were some water works. He can deal with not socializing with most other non-humans, as he isn't super attached to anyone anyway. But Sera was his friend! A REAL friend! But he figures, hey, in this situation he doesn't have to compromise his values and Sera doesn't have to worry about him insulting her or offending him or anything else. CLEARLY EVERYONE WINS \o/. . .but it still sucks. It hasn't hit him yet, but he's doing the exact same thing his party did, only in a more passive-aggressive way. They turned on him immediately after finding out he was a DEIMOS!1, despite everything Kharg had done for them. Though in that scenario, Kharg felt like he had betrayed their trust by being what he is (which also is dumb logic, but we've established that Kharg logic is not earth logic). Now Kharg is turning on is one true friend and this time it really is a betrayal of trust. She's done nothing but be upfront and honest with him and he turns his back on it. Once he realizes that, he'll probably feel like mud \o/ BUT FOR NOW he honestly believes it's something he has to do.
If he were to run into Sera this soon after his whole shunning act, he'd. . .still continue to ignore her. He's going to keep ignoring Darc. Sera was right, it is completely selfish. He's not going to deny that. He told Zero he wouldn't hesitate to kill Sera if he had to, but that is a HUGE LYING LIE THAT IS FULL OF LIES. Speaking of, though this was brought along before speaking more with Zero, Kharg is still out for approval. The fact that Zero's--a person who Kharg believes to be a PROTECTOR OF HUMANITY gosh what an awesome human--opinion of him weighs more on Kharg than Sera's does shows how shallow and narrow minded he still is. He's still searching for acceptance from humanity, and this scenario plays into it. Or something. idek.
TL;DR Kharg is a tool. And a douche. And a dumbass. But that really isn't anything new. WHOO I SUCK AT ESSAYS. Feel free to ask for other stuff I missed out on and I'll get to it later. Just like I said about that stick figure meme, uh. I REALLY WILL. gnight. \o/
