can anyone think of any good examples/representations of god in science fiction. i'm looking for some earlier works in particular but anything current would be helpful, too.
it doesn't have to be judeo-christian, but i was hoping for monotheistic just for simplicity. it would be ok if not, though. i'm basically starting with earlier science fiction works like in the 50s and 60s when god stopped being something controversial to talk about in scifi and working up from there
any of c.s. lewis's fiction could be considered science fiction. so could dante's inferno. you would have to argue their validity as "science fiction", but you could do it.
the left behind series maybe?
frank peretti's writing.
constantine, the comic or the movie with keanu reeves.
i think cs lewis could potentially work. left behind, maybe. constantine is a really good idea! the only reason i might not be able to use left behind or cs is i'm thinking about taking it from a blasphemous perspective [like when did it stop becoming taboo to talk about god in a way different from traditional teachings in scifi]

And you're so doing some sort of comparison/contrast with "Hell is the Absence of God", aren't you? :D
