Wednesday
My roommate went psycho. Oh Simon. Simon invited a guy to the party, so he had only one guest and of course Simon wants to bed this guy. Early on they even went to his room and shut the door and he said to me, "We'll be back in a while." They came out after a while and rejoined the party. I was busy with my friends and we were all in the kitchen (a good dozen of us, probably more) and so Josh was the one to notice that Simon branched off to the living room to watch television with his guy.
Simon's general couch date goes something like this:
[television on]
[turns to CNN]
[10 minutes of CNN] "This is kind of boring, isn't it?"
[channel surfs for 10 minutes before settling on CNN again]
[channel surfs a bit more before settling on South Park if it's on, otherwise back to CNN]
So they did that (probably) and Josh noticed that the guy left early and i didn't see Simon for the rest of the night. This was relatively early in the night, around 10 or 11. At around 1, people started piling into my room because one of my friends wanted to show me something on facebook, so we went in there and everyone sort of thought, "What's going on? I'll follow." At 1:30, simon opened the door of his room and says really loudly, "HEY PHUONG. WHEN IS THIS PARTY GOING TO BE OVER? BECAUSE I CAN'T FUCKING SLEEP!" (When Simon yells, it just sounds like really loud talking.) Wasn't discrete at all. And despite saying that he couldn't sleep, he was still wearing the clothes he was wearing before, so i'm quite doubtful that he was actually trying to sleep. More than anything, i think he was angry that his date didn't go well and that guy left early.
What really grinds my gears is that Josh later told me that Simon had threatened to turn off the power to the apartment TWICE but Josh talked him out of it saying that he would get people to clear out.
Thib: really? wow
Me: I KNOW!
Thib: what a dick
Me: who does that?!
Me: instead of coming to me and asking me to keep it down and ask my guests to go he makes a public display about it.
Thib: he's not very mature
Thib: he's really weird
Thib: increasingly so, now that I learn more about him
Me: i live with a child, thib.
Needless to say, i'm ramping up my efforts to find a place in the city with Susan.
But, all in all, the party went very well. My best friend had a hiking date with my boss. Conflict of interest.
Thursday
Started at my sister's around 10. Cooked for 6 hours with a couple 30 minute rests. Actually managed to finish an hour early somehow. I made:
- pesto pasta with artichoke hearts (homemade pesto!)
- spinach/walnut/cranberry salad
- stuffing
- rosemary mash
- roasted garlic mash
- roasted vegetables
- fall harvest soup
- apple cranberry cobbler (i totally made this up as i went along!)
- banana cream pie with chocolate crust
This is seriously everything but the turkeys and the gravy (we bought the gravy, or else i would have made that too). I ate around 5, right when the food was served, and fell asleep at 7 for about three hours.
Anna called me around 12:30 that day to tell me that she had made plans with Steve to go on a hike at 10:30, but she slept through it. "Steve is my boss," i told her. To which she replied, "Oh, then should i call him?" Yes. Very yes. She didn't realize it was a date until the end when he said that she should stop by Gilroy on thursdays on her way up from Monterey and he would cook dinner for her. My best friend went on a hike date with my boss. This cannot happen. Come monday, i am supposed to pretend that i don't know they went on a date. This cannot happen.
ramble on,
