This weekend has been a blast! I had Friday and Today off and they both ended up being days full of fun.
On Friday I hung out with my good buddy Aaron and later that evening my other good buddy Paul. Aaron brought his PC to show me Lord of the Rings Online. The games seems really cool, a lot like WoW, except it has a more realistic visual style and more in-depth story line and story based quests. The classes seemed really unique and cool as well. After that my brother made up a character and Aaron and I chitchatted about all kinds of stuff.
Paul showed up later that evening and we went and saw Transformers the movie. God bless Paul, that poor guy was on his second viewing and I have to say that I didn't enjoy the movie much at all. The only good things were the special effects and Shia LaBeouf. Anytime a re-imagining of a children's cartoon character's opening line is "What's crackin' bitches?!?" I think we have problems. All movie issues aside we still had a fun evening of it all as we quipped jokes and later had fun at Denny's.
Today was probably one of the best days I have ever had so far. My little brother Rick married his fiancée Levi! The wedding was held at the Lake Worth courthouse and was really great. My aunt, uncle, cousin and grandma were there. I haven't seen them since Christmas, so it was really nice. The judge was a sincere and funny lady and handled the whole ceremony with great skill. I swear I started to almost cry and that isn't a common occurrence for me. After it was said and done she told everyone Texas has passed a new law and they had to name the next child they had after her, it was pretty funny.
After we finished congratulations and pictures we piled into our respective cars and went to a restaurant called the Sesame Grill. It's a Chinese/Japanese buffet. We all pigged out like it was the last meal we'd ever eat. The food was awesome and I got to try sushi for the first time! I really liked the California rolls and the Sesame Rolls most. The staff did a great job handling the 30 some-odd guests all at once and the result was me drinking way too much Dr.Pepper.
From there we headed back to Rick and Levi's place where partying and madness ensued. We all had fun and I actually had a drink. It was something called a Saki Bomb and it goes like this, you take a glass and fill it about halfway up with beer, then you take two chopsticks and place them side by side on top of your glass. Next, you fill a small Saki cup with Saki and balance it on the two chopsticks over your glass. The bride and groom yell
SAKI!!!
Then everyone else yells
BOMB!!!
Three times like this
SAKI!!!
BOMB!!!
SAKI!!!
BOMB!!!
SAKI!!!
BOMB!!!
Everyone then slams their hands on the table, your Saki falls into the glass and you pick it up and chug it really fast as the Saki and beer mix. It was quite fun but I'm not much of a drinker so I only did it once and watched everyone after that.
We played Wii Sports and some Tekken 4 on the PS2 which Levi's dad is really awesome at by the way. Then came the finale and the biggest source of fun. Karaoke! I can tell you with all honesty that Levi and her family are great singers, I can also tell you with all honesty that myself and my family are NOT! Hahahaha! This was pretty much why it was so fun. My brothers, my dad and myself did amazing renditions of many hits and I think the Saki Bombs really had their chance to shine with the karaoke. You haven't truly lived until you've heard Rick sing "What a Wonderful World" in a half way competent/all the way hilarious Louis Armstrong voice!
We all chilled out and had a blast the whole day. I believe that Rick and Levi are probably on their way to Winstar Casino as I type this and I wish them the best of luck! More than that I wish them a happy and fulfilling marriage and life! You could easily tell as they were saying there vows that they were meant for each other and I don't know when I have ever seen them so full of joy!
This was definitely a great weekend and makes me realize how lucky I am to have such great friends and family.
Hooray!
