Oh, I can guess the reason.

He's not handsome. He's not slick and glossy and sexy. So he loses time because snark and humour doesn't sell as well as sex.

In a fit of masochism I went to fanfiction.net and looked up movie'verse Toad fic. For some reason the little fanlings liked to write him crossing over into the X-Men Evolution'verse. And then there was the WTF?-type crossovers. Like...Tekken?

But yes, there has been some really really good Toad fic.

I swear, I used to think the Toad RP I do was crack with the crossover and all, but now I know it's not that bad. There is worse crack out there.

I say go for it. I've got like three distinct versions of the guy in my head. The main one that I RP, the bi one that I use to threaten my Toad-muse with, and the more cracked out one with a half-alien lab baby background like the comic one has.

So there's room for lots of interpretations.

I like him more in fic than in the actual show. His stupid 'Welcome Back Kotter' voice made me want to pitch something through the TV screen.

I am half in love with movie'verse Toad, and kinda fond of comic Toad now too because of it. I saw this issue one of some post-M-Day X-Men miniseries called 198 at my local comic store and I almost got it just because it had Toad saying something that was kind of a little bit snarky to Cyclops.

I can't even picture it. Except maybe as hatesex, because Toad totally owned Cyclops and Jean in X1.

But it couldn't touch Cyclops/Wolverine or Mystique/Wolverine as my hatesex preferences for movie'verse.
