What a surprise

I was reading the paper today and this was one of the front page stories.

Daily News:
Poll: Bush isn't in step with the public

Americans say President George W. Bush does not share the priorities of most of the country on either domestic or foreign issues, are increasingly resistant to his proposal to revamp Social Security and say they do not have confidence in Bush's ability to make the right decisions about the retirement program, according to the latest New York Time/CBS News poll.

Isn't this a big surprise? I mean more than half of us did vote for him right?

Why does he even want to allow individuals to invest part of their Social Security taxes in private accounts? This will not only cause a great reduction of guaranteed government benefits, but will also weaken the retirement system. What does he care right? If Bush's plan goes through then people will be more in control of their retirement savings not the government. That's OK though if you're rich then you'll be well off until you die, and if you're poor and can't afford big savings...well then you know...you gotta work till you die.
