I know what you mean with the whole PSP thing... though with me, I think there are enough games on it that I really would love to play, but it's still just too darn expensive. These days I'm starting to think I just can't afford to be a gamer anymore. I think the last gaming 'system' I bought on my own was my DS, and honestly it was not the most responsible purchase anyway. XD;
Well, a PSP is $160. Ten bucks more than what I spent on my DS, so...
But I do know what you mean. I've contemplated saving up for a PS3 or 360, but the former is too expensive and getting a non-gimped 360 is also rather costly too. Until I got myself a better paying job, my gaming options are becoming more limited.
This would be so much easier if Nintendo's idea of a big 'holiday game' wasn't Wii Music. With the Gamecube, I was perfectly content with the Gamecube and bought about five PS2 games throughout its lifespan.
Ain't it the truth. Actually, my problem with the PS3 -- the price point not withstanding -- is that there are few games that I actually want for the sucker. Even with my super awesome deal-finding skills, I'd still have to buy, what, a $400 console... and that's if I wanted el cheapo model. This besides the fact that my upper bound price point on any console is $300, a price point that made me snub the 360 until my friends in the right places found me a deal I couldn't refuse.
I'm at least happy with my 360; there's enough stuff that I have for it that's worth playing. It hasn't been as cost-effective as the Wii yet, but if Wii Music and Wii Sports Resort is the offerings of Nintendo for the months to come, that may yet change.
I don't recall seeing a PSP for that "cheap" around here, but to be honest I wasn't looking that hard and may have read various price stickers wrong. I think I paid a hundred even for my DS [Lite].
Too bad Fable 2 didn't come out for the PC like the first one did; that's how I avoided having to get an Xbox (Fable 1 was the only Xbox game I ever wanted XD).
And yeah seriously Nintendo. What happened to yummy fare like SM Galaxy or Super Paper Mario? Sheesh, Wii Music.
