A few months later the supposed Babel miracle ended up being a single stranded enveloped virus with a genome of a mere ten thousand base pairs. Its envelope comprised of a simple typical protein capsid of glycoproteins III and I. Nothing miraculous about it, hell it wasn’t even a breakthrough scientifically, besides the specific binding sights being to nerve cells controlling the larynx, which caused uncontrollable speech patterns via spasms.
People were still writing it off as a miracle though but in all honesty it was just a freak act of nature, like red tide or the disappearance of honey bee populations across the globe, it was something to that degree. But people had their sides of the fence, which they wanted to believe in the thing still got away with a biblical name though, calling it Babelisum dysphonia, actually they wrote it off as a more severe neurologically complex form of Spasmodic dysphonia. Confusing the brains cognitive thinking process to making you think you were speaking English, or whatever your native tongue was, only to have it come out as babbling or something complete foreign. But religions all across the world were relating it to some omen sent by god since it hit a major city like New York. New York sure as shit wasn’t any Babel or Babylon for that matter, but that was all perspective and John understood where they were getting it from. A huge city with millions of people all speaking different tongues, known throughout the world, maybe it was an act of God. But the lab tests always proved otherwise disprove the unknown and you got people berating you and calling you a heathen, leave it as it is and you have to deal with people’s denial, complete lack of sense, and bullshit stories. It was a lose-lose situation in his case and hopefully this was to be the only disease that would cause this. He’d hate to lose sleep over something like this again but who knows, science worked in mysterious ways and this disease was proof of that.
