LIMS: Challenge 01
Hello! This challenge is posted early because I will be busy when I should be posting it. XD This should give the participants extra time to complete their icons.
Challenge 01: Versatility
Versatility is very important for graphic artists. In this challenge, we ask you to showcase your different skills when it comes to iconmaking.
1. You must submit two (2) icons.
2. You may blend, crop, color, add text, etc. Feel free to use textures and brushes. You cannot animate.
3. You must use the screencaps given below. You cannot use other Merlin-related images. You also cannot use the same screencap(s) for both icons.
4. Important: Your icons cannot be made with the same style. They do not have to be drastically different, however. [Look at this link to see what's appropriate. In the "not allowed" icons, you can see that while the icons used different coloring and textures, they're very similar in design. In the "allowed" icons, you can see that even though one set has two black and white icons, they're different in design. (FYI, I used three black and white icons in the "allowed" section, but you're not required to make black and white icons.)]
A few [optional] guidelines:
1. Try not to use the same coloring.
2. Cropping will be your best friend!
3. Try not to use the same brushes/gradients/textures twice.
4. Utilize text!
5. My suggestion is to make one signature icon. This icon is your style and it's what you do frequently. The other icon should be something you've never done before or haven't done much of.
The purpose of this challenge is to prepare you for the rest of the competition, where you will be asked to make more icons and have more restrictions. There will be no elimination this challenge. However, you will get a lot out of this challenge. There will still be voting, where you will get feedback on your icons. The set with the most votes will be the community's default icons until the next challenge.
Once this challenge is finished, I hope you'll be more comfortable with experimenting with different icon styles and designs.
