Curse of the Internet

Feb 21, 2007 13:49

So I now finally have the Internet at the house (which, by the way, needs a nickname - the house, not the Internet), although not without some sorrow. It turns out that the Ethernet cable just does not want to play nicely with the PowerBook's ethernet port, although the cable and the iBook play together beautifully.

Some inspection of the PowerBook's ethernet port reveals one slightly bent pin, which is likely due to my constantly mistaking the ethernet port for the FireWire 800 port and trying to plug the external hard drive into the ethernet port. Seriously, can one little pin really cause so much sorrow?

Plan of action: all secure transactions to be made on the iBook (annoying) until I have the balls to take my baby into some dolts at a service centre so they can replace the ethernet card. On AppleCare's dime.
