We often say things like "I love you like a fat kid loves cake", but what we don't realise is that, the love in this situation is purely one sided, because as much as the fat kid's love for the cake is infinite and undying, I assume that the cake doesn't really desire to be swallowed up by a fat kid. So of course, it doesn't have a very happy ending.
Instead, love should be something like, "I love you like a pancake loves maple syrup", or "I love you like a plastic bag loves the wind". Because the love in this case, is mutual. And when love is mutual, you help each other to learn, and to grow.
Pancakes are nice, maple syrup is nice, but nobody would want to eat a plain pancake without syrup, and nobody would want to drink a bottle of syrup without any pancakes.
Likewise, nobody really cares about an unwanted plastic bag on the floor, and nobody really cares about the wind, but once they come together, their presence becomes magical. The wind cannot be seen on its own, but if you watch a plastic bag fly, you can tell the exact form of the wind. Where it's heading, how strong it is, and what shape it's taking. At the same time, the plastic bag follows the wind closely in its dance steps, it swirls and twirls in the sky, and regains its life. They help each other shine, and in turn become more beautiful on their own. This is how mutual love works.
