So, I meet some Candian on MySpace, who's into making creatively designed purses.
So I tell her about Elly's Jewellery that she makes,
I give her a link to Marianne's www.loominous.co.uk website, where Marianne makes woolly bags and clothes and stuff,
and I then go to tell her about Carolyn Lee who makes hulahoops for the circus trade.
But Carolyn's website isn't there anymore.
Oh no!
I've had her business card for a whole year, but never once got in touch, and now I may have lost touch with her for good. And what happened to hulahoopla? Did she go out of business? I was pretty worried what may have happened, as Carolyn struck me as a simply lovely person. =)
It was her smiles, and hand gestures I remember most, although if we look at the blog post from the time, she was apparently wearing a funky hat too:
Well...on the way home, I met a lady called Carolyn, whose website you will all go and visit now: www.hulahoopla.co.uk ^_^, she makes professional hulahoops for the circus trade. Oh, she was lovely(!). The smiles when she first got on the train, then the lovely movements she made when listening to her iPod, so I simply had to chat to her. She had been to some job interviews for diversity roles - some vague consultancy thing regarding encouraging more diverse range of people into their client's career paths, but yeah, she also makes hulahoops out of tubing, layered with glittery tape for reflections. ^_^. One of the only producers in the UK apparently, so really good specialist.
Then I met some other guy from a talentcasting agency in Bristol, who was interested in hearing about the DVD production, and may have some contacts for people who can help, so, all in all, a pretty cool day. =)
Oh god, I loved Carolyn's hat. =) Just awesome, but she was lovely.
So what happened to lovely Carolyn?
The answer is but a google search away!
According to Personnel Today magazine,
she is now Diversity Manager for Herbert Smith law firm. ^_^.
So I've fired her off a congratulatory email.
I was really worried to learn hulahoopla was down, but as soon as I heard the person behind it had a brand spanking new job, I was soo happy, and relieved.
Carolyn isn't the only lady I've met on public transport to now be involved in the area of law. Miya, the girl with the most sexiest ankles I've ever seen, and incredible sleek black hair, is apparently taking Law at Warwick Uni. I wonder if, upon graduating, Carolyn, who answers only to Herbert Smith's HR department, might be able to wangle Miya a job?
Well, we'll have to wait and see if Miya ever speaks to me again, =P,
and if Carolyn replies to the email I just sent.
In the meanwhile, I've spotted a job vacancy I like too...but with my testicles still problematic (going for an ultrasound on 27th March to have the problem diagnosed) and still wanting to finish the DVD production, I feel as if my heart wouldn't be in it, if I applied, so I'd just be wasting time. I still want 2007 to be the year of following my heart.
