Interesting. I wasn't expecting Elle at all in this series, but I like how you included her. She certainly hasn't lost any of her arrogance (I never liked the character -- or the actress, if you can call her that).

What I really like are Hotch's conflicted emotions in regard to her. It rings true.

And while I'm commenting, I have a request ... can your next chapter be that breakfast discussion between Reid and Gideon (An Innocent Inquisition)? I'm dying to "see" that conversation.

Write on!

I'm just glad I didn't butcher her. I've got all the other voices down (for the most part). But Elle still has that arrogance...even though she's changed a lot since she left the BAU. If she hadn't crossed the line in the process, I think this whole storyline would have gone a completely different direction, but that's neither here nor there (and I so do not need another series in my lap.).

Hotch is all kinds of torn up about this. Just because she's crossed the line and left the BAU doesn't mean she left his 'family'; and does him turning to her mean he's covering for her? Especially since he's not digging about what he knows happened?

Wow!!! Someone's actually requesting something specific! OMG. Squee.

I'll see what I can do.

wow, i really like elle being brought into this, especially to help morgan. the line "sending the fallen to catch the falling" is amazing.
as for you not having a beta, i only noticed one mistake: "were we every given notice?" i think you mean ever.
hm, i don't know which other chapters i've commented on, but i think you should know i flail about in joy whenever i notice an update.

I was debating the whole "nothing left to save Reid from" bit, and realized that that, more than anything almost, would have hit Morgan the hardest. I had to figure out how to get Morgan from taking it out on the next UnSub, or the next, or...and the only other person on the team who'd've been in that position would have been Gideon. And while Gideon has a great deal of empathy, it works almost completely opposite to Morgan's, and would work at cross-purposes. Morgan and Elle, on the other hand, worked from much the same mindset - Morgan just had more...uh. something. self-restraint? conscious control?

Yay. I fought like hell to get it in there. that one, and the going over the edge one before. I just hope I don't end up murdering the theme in the next couple of stories. Thanks for pointing out the typo. I wrote this mostly at work, which means I get to type it out of my 3"x5" notebook. Lots of typos.:( Word caught most of them. My betas are pretty much for kicking my ass on characterization and/or finding plotholes ( ... )

"...the one person who could pull Morgan back from the edge had already gone over it."

My absolute favorite line of this series. I was surprised that Elle would be brought back to help Morgan but it fits so well; they made great partners. I figured she'd be there for Reid, but of course helping Morgan heal IS helping Reid.

Hotch was conflicted when she left, and he still is...very true to his character. And you have captured her as well - still fighting everyone everywhere, but still holding on to her (slightly) softer side. I think she always had a soft spot in her heart for Reid, and he did for her.

I still can't wait to find out what Morgan's going to do with all that ammunition. I mean, Hankel's already dead, so who's he gonna shoot?

Wow. I knew I liked those lines, but I had no idea they'd hit the audience that hard!

What's going to be interesting is that Elle doesn't know Morgan and Reid are uh. Together. I don't think. Yet. I need to think about that and decide whether she puts her foot in her mouth...

I really really would not want to be Hotch in this situation. It's gotta be hell trying to deal with caring for someone you know's killed in cold blood... Elle's learning the hard way to pick her battles, and she's got more perspective and patience now. I dunno if I'll be able to get her to show it, but...eh. We'll see.

I know! I know! He shoots...well, he...that would be telling.

That last line gave me goosebumps.
Amazing. And yay Elle! Sometimes I just get wonderful reminders about why I love her.

Yay for goosebumps!

My muse wouldn't let me leave her out. I mean, she and Reid were tight, after all.
