This may be the first time I've commented on your story, so first let me say I'm loving it. You're doing wonderful things with characterization, and it takes a lot of skill to do that with such short chapters. So yay, you!

I confess I'm glad to see you warming up to Emily in this chapter. I don't know if this is your ultimate goal. I happen to like her character far more than Elle's and I can't wait to see how things are going to turn out in Season 3.

So write on!

Thank you. I'm actually trying to avoid case-centric fics, at least in OI&E and maybe CM overall, because they take too much investment before I even get to sit down and start writing. But I love writing character pieces, which...uh. Shows?

To be honest, I couldn't stand Emily up until Honor of Thieves. I am warming up to her in canon, but I still have to deal with the bullshit attitude she pulled for the better part of her run in season two, so the whole post-Evolution OI&E storyline is at least partly her saying, "Ok, I fucked up and acted like an immature bitch, let me apologize and get on with my life."

I have no idea what I'm going to do with Season 3, to be honest. I may incorporate specific episodes, I may incorporate the whole season, I may just say to hell with it and say OI&E cuts off at Evolution of Frank.

In any case, you've seen the number of unwritten fic I have planned...I don't think I'm going to stop writing any time soon.

Love the idea of Reid testing Emily like this. Go him! Reid laughed. "Emily, I know the rest of the team treats me as if I can't fight my way out of a wet paper bag, but really, I'm not helpless." *Laughs*

Really, you know, when I started writing this series (waaaaay back in Knowledge and Innocence), Reid identified one of his primary weapons is perceived innocence. It's also his primary method of self-defense.

And how the rest of the team treat him plays right into that - if the unsub is trying to pick the 'weakest' member of the team to kidnap/whatever, he's the most likely to be picked simply from the way everyone else protects him. He's entirely likely to be underestimated, thus he's the member of the team most likely to be able to engineer either his own escape or rescue. Or at least, that's how I see it.

Every once in a while, though, he has to point out that he really isn't helpless.

I think Reid and Emily have huge potential for a great friendship. Will more be developing along this line? Hint, hint.

Until I get a few other things straightened out with the post-Evolution storyline, I can't really write a whole lot in that timeframe.

Yay! \o/ I must admit, I don't know much about Emily in canon, cause I missed most of season 2, but I like the portrayal here. I like Reid giving her the test and her knowing it.
