What I was going to say...

I have been slack this week, not writing anything, but I have had tonnes of thoughts, that I probably should have noted down somewhere. Oh well, another time perhaps.

On Tuesday I didn't really give two tuggs about the Melbourne cup, I was just looking forward to the day off. I remember what it was like to live near the racecourse. The house down the hill from me had several stables on it (big property) and it use to house some the champions for the racing carnival. It was always exciting to see the horses arriving.

Cup day - well everywhere was pretty off limits, that is unless you enjoy being harrassed by drunken louts or catty Barbies twittering around in drunkeness. The usual routine was to hit the Anglers - a pub on the river after the Cup event and see just how many things you could do that you would regret in the morning. It was always packed, people were shitfaced and throwing up all over the place, there is ALWAYS a fight (or several) in the carpark, where someone gets bashed to the point of going home in an ambulance or in more recent times, knives have been more favourable than fists. So glad I am away from that now.

I stayed at home all day, but I watched the race without making a single bet.

A friend of mine had a gig on in Brunswick and I was going that evening. I was meeting my friend at Flinders under the clocks at 6pm, but I got a bit carried away with doing my hair, that it ended up being about 6.30pm. I should point out here, that the friend who was playing in the gig is someone I had never met face to face. I met her over Myspace, after my then asswipe boyfriend had tried to sleaze onto her. She messaged me after seeing my profile with a picture of him and I together on it and filled me in on all his little antics, including the bits about him saying he was  single and living alone - when he actually was living with me at the time. That was 2 years ago and we became friends. Funnily though after we became friends, the asswipe deleted and blocked her from his friends list without any explanation. How nice.

Anyway, she lives in the same suburbs as my folks (like literally around the corner) we have been meaning to catch up all this time, but something always came up at the last minute. Anyway, I was off to meet her for the first time at a pub called "Don't Tell Tom" on Sydney Road.
E said he knew where it was, but actually didn't ahve any concept of where we were and how to get to said bar. So after up and down Nicholson street a couple of times, we had a bright idea of asking the tram driver and it turned out that we were acutlly headed towards a totally different suburb and miles away from where we needed to be. (Yes we caught the wrong trams to start with which ok was my fault) Evenutually made it there and arrived just before they were going to play the second set. I was suprised though as the band, me, E and the 2 other people were the ONLY ones there. Luckily it was a paid gig, but still.....how absurd!!

The music was great, and we hit it off face to face. we downed 2 jugs of beer, i can't believe I got tipsy on 3 glasses of beer. At about 10, we were practically stumbling to Brunswick station and as we all live in the same area - we got to take the same train home. Except for me, I stayed on when they changed at Newport to catch the Willi train. I was knackered when i got home, but was home with just enough time to get a good sleep for work the next day.

Fast forward Wednesday, Thurdsay and Friday (which was all boring because it was work) and here I am at the weekend. It was windy and shitty weather and I had to go do stuff. Trivial shit that I had been putting off but needed to do today. I have my friend from Primary school's daughters 2nd birthday tomorrow, but Im stressing because the toy I bought her is really big and I don't have enough of the same wrapping paper to wrap it with. Its a musical tea set (something i would have wanted when i was turning 2 im sure), I think i will have to wrap it half in Star Wars paper and the other half in Zebra print - How embarrassing! Oh shit, I forgot I need a card too!!! dammit! and the shops are closed now! Argh!
