What a furry dreams...
Being someone who takes dreams seriously, for their revealing insight into one's own very being, I frequently look back at dreams I've had in the past. Individual people do not all dream the same way. Some dream they are re-living their past, others dream they are someone else. Some have activity intense dreams, others dream about conversations.
My dreams very rarely involve talking, nearly all the interaction is non-verbal; facial expressions and posturing. One quite likely reason for this is that my dreams are not all from a human perspective. In many of my dreams I am an animal or bird. As mentioned some time ago on one of the CTC related forums I often dream of flying across rivers, lakes and oceans. I've also seen the dreamscape through cat's eyes, dog's, horse's, fox's, dolphin's as a gazelle, a bovine, and at least once as a winged dragon.
All this began long before my first learning of furry fandom. In fact it may even pre-date the existence of the fandom, given that I first dreamed of being a kangaroo when I was age six (that would have been in 1975-76).
Some work colleagues recently began discussing the meaning of dreams, whereupon they proceeded to look up some websites explaining the meaning (or trying to). At my own insistence they located the following:

To my dissapointment the website covers only what it means to see these animals, not to actually be one. Nevertheless some of the paragraphs are fascinating. In particular I found the entry for Kangaroo to be highly ironic.
To see a kangaroo in your dreams, refers to maternal and paternal protection. You may be expressing your nurturing and mothering nature. Alternatively, a kangaroo may symbolize aggression.
To dream that a kangaroo attacks you, foretells that false accusations will damage and jeopardize your reputation.
What's altogether fascinating is that the first part, "expressing nurturing and mothering nature" is entirely the opposite of me. A kangaroo "symbolising aggression" bears some truth in my nature, but most astounding is that last part "foretells that false accusations will damage and jeopardize your reputation." That's certainly happened to me, and it leaves me wondering what could be the association between a kangaroo and false accusations? Does dreaming that you ARE a kangaroo indicate you'll be the target of false accusations?
