Morning email replying to a thread on implementing some rubbish testing crap the testers don't need but want to fuck up and make horrible anyways. And he's encouraging awful small minded things. Which is whatever. But what occurs to me is that he's never signed on for anyone's big ideas. He's never encouraged anyone to pursue anything they like. He hates dreams, hates letting people have fun. The project today is BS but he's implicitly encouraging it, he just wants to make it awful and carve egregious shortcuts through it while riding high on a moral ground of simplicity. It's not simple, it's hideous and carefully barely working hand coded delicate BS scripts, when we have much better capabilities we use in production. Everything is the shortest horizon possible. It feels so small, and the real killer is that it's so vocal, so loud, so in your face against anyone who dares put their head up w/ something a little bit visionary.
